Goldie Hawn and Andrew Garfield took the Oscars stage to present the awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Animated Short, but first, Andrew took a moment to thank Goldie for her impact on his life.
Andrew told Goldie and the audience that his mother, who died in 2019 from pancreatic cancer, was a big fan. He grasped the Overboard star's hand and said, "There's a person who gave my mother, during her life, the most joy, the most comfort, and tonight, I feel very lucky because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart, and that person is Goldie Hawn. I can feel her smiling at us at this moment."
Goldie interrupted him to to say, "Thank you, sweetie, that really touches me," but Andrew had more to say. He continued, "You've given us movies full of joy, you've lifted our spirits, and you've made us feel that all is right with the world, over and over."
Goldie replied, "I just loved it. I was so lucky making movies in this amazing Hollywood, and making people laugh, and maybe some didn't, but that's okay." Goldie then asked Andrew to help read the prompter because she's "completely blind" and has cataracts.
ABC shared the clip on X and fans commented, "Andrew Garfield’s heartfelt tribute to Goldie Hawn is everything. What a beautiful moment!" and "Goldie Hawn is a national treasure!"
