The 2025 Oscars are pretty much going off without a hitch — well, actually, they were.

There was one moment during the ceremony that had many people a little perplexed: the James Bond tribute. Variety reported earlier this week that the show was going to honor the franchise's producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who received Honorary Oscars at the Governors Awards. And on Sunday night, we finally saw the incredible dedication by Doja Cat, LISA and Raye, who performed songs from the iconic franchise.

There is absolutely no doubt from fans that the singers did an amazing job. "I'm getting goosebumps," one person wrote on YouTube. "Oh, they came to feast," someone else said. "They’re so good," someone else wrote.

But what wasn't so good, according to some Redditors, was the fact that the show didn't reveal who the next James Bond would be. "If there is no new James Bond announcement after this, it is a failure of epic proportions," one person wrote in the Oscars thread on the platform. "No new Bond actor? What the hell was this for?" another person asked.

There's been a lot of talk over the last four years about who should be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig announced that No Time to Die would be his last movie. Since then, it's been reported by Collider that Amazon MGM Studios now has full ownership of the franchise.

“Since his theatrical introduction over 60 years ago, James Bond has been one of the most iconic characters in filmed entertainment,” said Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, according the outlet. “We are grateful to the late Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman for bringing James Bond to movie theaters around the world, and to Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for their unyielding dedication and their role in continuing the legacy of the franchise that is cherished by legions of fans worldwide. We are honored to continue this treasured heritage and look forward to ushering in the next phase of the legendary 007 for audiences around the world.”

The news is pretty recent, so it makes sense that there's no word yet on who will take on the iconic role, however, fans have some strong suggestions, including Henry Cavill, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy.
