We so love to see two legends in Hollywood support one another!
The 2025 Oscars are capping out a momentous awards season, with many tuning in to see which stars are going to get a coveted trophy for their extraordinary work. It's not often you see a previous Oscar winner and a potential victor come together ahead of the ceremony — but that's exactly what happened when ABC's "On the Red Carpet" hosts got presenter (and The View star) Whoopi Goldberg and 2025 Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo (who's up for Best Actress) together for a pre-show interview moment!
As the two actresses talked to George Pennacchio on the red carpet, Cynthia got the chance to tease what's to come for Wicked 2: For Good (out November 21, 2025). But as George pointed out, it was incredible to watch Whoopi hold space for Cynthia amid all her success — and Whoopi had important insight about what it means for actors to support one another as they all move through the industry.
"We don't have anything else to prove," Whoopi bluntly stated in a clip posted on X (formerly Twitter). "We can be nice because there's no reason not to be."
"That's right," Cynthia added. "That's right — there's no better answer than that."
Now this is a partnership we absolutely could get behind! What's more, if Cynthia ends up winning Best Actress at the Oscars, she would join Whoopi and only 20 others who make up the select group of EGOT winners (those who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony).
So, how does Whoopi feel about Cynthia potentially becoming an EGOT winner? She weighed in on what it could mean.
"You know, it means something different for everybody. Fingers are crossed that people get what they need to get," she told The Hollywood Reporter on X.
