Jeff Goldblum is associated with some of the biggest movies of all time. Between his work in the Jurassic Park movies and starring as The Wizard in the Oscar-nominated movie Wicked, we love seeing him grace our screens. As we cheer him on at the 2025 Oscars, Jeff also has his wife Emilie Livingston supporting him behind the scenes.
So, how did Jeff and Emilie fall in love? The actor and the former Canadian Olympic gymnast's road to romance actually began in 2011, with a meet-cute that could seriously be the plot of a romance novel. The two met while working out at an Equinox gym, when Jeff (who was previously married to Patricia Gaul from 1980 to 1985 and Geena Davis from 1987 to 1991) couldn't help but approach Emilie during her fitness regimen. And much to the 72 year old star's surprise, Emilie (who is 30 years his junior) had no idea about his acting career!
"We were at the gym," he said on The Hoda Show in November 2019. "You can imagine, she wasn’t showing off … but she was doing some kind of fantastical [workout]. I was compelled to go over and ask what was happening ... She hasn’t seen many of my movies still, she didn’t know who I was when we met."
Thankfully, Jeff wasn't deterred by Emilie not knowing his Hollywood presence and they exchanged numbers. They started dating shortly thereafter, and in July 2014, Jeff and Emilie got engaged while on vacation in Hawaii. It didn't take long for them to seal the deal, as they wed in November 2014 in a romantic ceremony at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.
But marriage was only the beginning of Jeff and Emilie's love story. In 2015, the two became first-time parents when they welcomed their first son Charlie Ocean. With the addition of their second son River Joe in 2017, the Goldblum family was complete.
Speaking to the Today show about being a dad, Jeff couldn't stop gushing about the joy it brings him to see Emilie step into the maternal role. "[Fatherhood is] amazing, it’s revivifying, and makes my relationship with Emilie, frankly, enhanced," he shared to the outlet in November 2022. "Seeing [my wife] in this new role is unbelievable. She’s heroic beyond imagination."
While being parents certainly takes up a lot of Jeff and Emilie's time, they also love to indulge in date nights when they can. Emilie consistently shows up by Jeff's side when he's doing press for his various projects, and she was with him while attending various Wicked premieres all over the world. Additionally, Jeff loves to showcase his love for Emilie on social media, and he shared a cheeky yet heartfelt tribute to her for Valentine's Day in February 2025.
"Oh Peaches! Won’t you be my Valentine? — Patches @emiliegoldblum," he wrote in the caption.
Given how the couple is close to hitting the 15-year mark of their relationship, what does Jeff appreciate most about Emilie's presence in his life? As he told E! News in February 2019, Emilie inspires him in ways he hadn't known before her.
"She’s my inspiration. She’s my muse," he simply told the outlet at the time.
This is truly a romance for the ages.
