Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth has been known to talk fondly about Oklahoma, where she grew up. The originator of the role of Galinda in Wicked even hosts a Broadway Bootcamp for high school-age students there every summer in the city of Broken Arrow. And she recently delighted fans with an adorable ’90s throwback photo that put her Okie roots on full display.

Posted on Instagram on Thursday, February 20, the photo reveals a beaming Kristin in her early twenties, standing by her Honda CRX with a 1992 Oklahoma vanity license plate that reads “ISING4U.” She wears a burgundy tracksuit, and her blond hair is styled in a flawless mile-high pouf. The caption reads: “Honk and I’ll sing 4 U... 🚙🎵 #TBT.”

Needless to say, the fan comments rolled in…

“Why have you been gatekeeping this???? 😍” wrote one fan. Kristin didn’t clue us in on that one, but she did answer Lance Bass, who commented, “May I frame this?” Her response: “of course. My hair!”

While some fans focused on the fact that this throwback photo is “EVERYTHING!!!” with comments like “This is the most adorable magic. We love you. 😘” and “Omg!!!!! I’m OBSESSED!”, others honed in on specifics.

“The hair, the wind suit, the car, all of it! ❤️”

First, there was Kristin herself—and her look:

  • “Wait, is this baby Kristin??? I can’t deal 😭😭😭”
  • “Awe. So adorable! Did that track suit add background sounds with it’s ‘swish swish’”
  • “Living for the shoulder pads, girl!”
  • “That hairdo is telling some stories 🔥❤️”
  • “Honk for the hair and track suit too! 😜😘”
  • “I can hear that tracksuit”
  • “Oklahoma queen”
“Gorgeous then and now!”

The Honda CRX also had a lot of people feeling nostalgic:

  • “I had that exact car!”
  • “I had a yellow crx and I thought I was something else!”
  • “That was the IT car”
  • “I had that car! No power steering. 85 horsepower Barely made it up hills and spun 360 a few times since it was so light. It was cute though!”
  • “My first car too! And definitely my favorite ❤️”
  • “Remember shoving friends in the ‘back’ lol”
  • “😂 did the car have a PA system?”

Finally, the Oklahoma plate drew its share of fans:

  • “I wish we still used those plates!”
  • “Love that vintage Oklahoma plate! 😍”
  • “OMGosh! I remember those style of Oklahoma tags! I loved them!”
  • “Fellow Okie ❤️”

One fan had a brilliant idea: “We need a recreation of this please.” Yes, we vote for that!

Fun Fact: Kristin Chenoweth is not only a Broadway singer. Her 10 albums include a country gem: 2011’s Some Lessons Learned. She recently was part of the lineup for PBS’s Patsy Cline tribute concert, where she told the audience, “I grew up in Oklahoma and singing Broadway and gospel and country.”
