Live from Los Angeles — it's the 2025 Oscars!
Awards season is officially wrapping up, and Hollywood's biggest names are gathering together one more time to celebrate the best from this season's collection of films. With both predicted and surprising movies garnering critical acclaim, folks are wondering which one will win the coveted Best Picture Academy Award. Well, before we find out, there's one person who will bring a bit of fun to the star-studded ceremony. This year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tapped comedian and TV host Conan O'Brien to help emcee the festivities.
Well loved for being a late night talk show host, Conan has since moved into the world of radio, TV and podcasting. But given his ability to interview celebrities and develop viral reactions from folks, it's easy to see why he would be the best choice to host the 2025 Oscars. And since we're talking about Hollywood's biggest night, we obviously needed to find out how much Conan O'Brien is getting paid to host the 2025 Oscars — and what his net worth is while we're at it.
How much is Conan O'Brien getting paid to host the 2025 Oscars?
While there's no official dollar amount that's been revealed to the public, based on previous hosts' comments about salary, it's likely Conan O'Brien will get paid around $15,000 to host the 2025 Oscars.
So, how did this particular number come about? Let us break it down for you:
When Wanda Sykes (who hosted the 2022 Oscars with Amy Schumer and Regina Hall) appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in March 2022, she and host Jimmy Kimmel (who hosted the Oscars in 2017, 2018, 2023 and 2024) bonded on them both being emcees for the star-studded event. What's more, Jimmy revealed what he'd gotten paid at the time to host the Oscars — and it was quite a shock over how little the salary was given how much he had to prepare for the big night.
"I got paid $15,000 to host the Oscars," he said in a clip posted on YouTube. "And there was one of me! You know it probably sounds like a lot for one night, but it's months of work leading up to it. You're getting robbed."
Additionally, when Jimmy spoke to Entertainment Weekly in August 2024 about if he'd host the 2025 ceremony, he shared he'd turned it down for a simple reason.
"It’s hard and it’s a lot of work and the show suffers a little bit to be honest," he said at the time. "When I’m focused on the Oscars, I’m less focused on the show. And I just decided I didn’t want to deal with that this year. It was just too much last year. You wind up pushing everything off till after the Oscars, then you have to do everything you promised to do after the Oscars after the Oscars."
Well, this is definitely a surprise we wouldn't have thought about!
What is Conan O'Brien's net worth?
Per a report fromScreen Rant (and CelebrityNetWorth.com), Conan O'Brien's net worth is estimated at around $200 million. But how did he amass that much money? It turns out Conan makes a lot of dough from a multitude of projects.
Does Conan O'Brien make money from other projects?
While Conan primarily became famous as the face of late night talk shows over the years, he currently is the founder of the media brand Team Coco. Between his own radio station, multiple podcasts (including his own series Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend) and starring on the travel program Conan O'Brien Must Go on Max, Conan reportedly made $150 million for selling Team Coco to SiriusXM back in May 2022. What's more, he'll likely make more in years to come, as Conan O'Brien Must Go got renewed for season 2 back in May 2024.
