This Valentine’s Day, Prince William and Kate have set the tone with a romantic social media post. The royal couple released a still image from the intimate video they shared last September when Kate announced that she had finished her chemotherapy.

The picture, which was posted the morning of February 14 on Instagram and X, shows the Prince and Princess of Wales sitting together in the woods on a blanket. They are holding hands and Kate is smiling as William kisses her on the cheek. It was posted with only an image of a heart as the caption.

The decision to share a picture for Valentine’s Day is indicative of a more personal approach to social media that the couple has taken in the past year. On Father’s Day last June, a personal photograph Kate had taken of William with their three children at the beach was posted, along with a message on behalf of George, Charlotte and Louis saying “We love you, Papa.” A few days later, on the Prince’s birthday, another personal photograph was shared this time with a message from Kate saying, “We all love you so much.” And in January this year, William posted a personal message to Kate on her birthday, describing her as “the most incredible wife and mother.”

Kate, 43, has begun her gradual return to work following the news that she is now in remission from an undisclosed form of cancer. Prince William’s timetable towards the end of January and the beginning of this month was busy, with several engagements across the country. The couple had been tipped to potentially attend the BAFTAs this Sunday but Kensington Palace shared this week that they will not be going.
