Fans are ready to see Jennifer Love Hewitt back on the big screen — and she's indulging them with a first look at how she's reprising a role people loved back in the day.

Back in 1997, the 9-1-1 star garnered a massive following by portraying Julie James in the cult movie I Know What You Did Last Summer. The popularity of the film later spurned two sequels in the early 2000s and a TV series that aired for one season in 2021. Well, folks are getting ready to go back to Southport, North Carolina, as news broke in June 2024 that Jennifer would reprise the role of Julie in another movie in the franchise. What's more, on February 5, she shocked her followers by revealing she was back on set to shoot the film that's expected to premiere in theaters on July 18, 2025.

"It’s giving I Know What You Did 🪝," she cryptically wrote alongside a photo of her in hair and makeup on Instagram.

When folks got to see a preview of Jennifer stepping back into an iconic movie role, they couldn't hold back their excitement in the comments.

"I AM WAITING FOR THE MOVIE THAT’S WHAT I’M WAITING FOR," one person exclaimed. "Can’t believe this is real! Julie is back! 😍," another declared. "Yes Julie!!!!! Julie is literally the return we all NEED!!!!" a different follower added.

And let's not forget, this is all as Jennifer is in the middle of filming 9-1-1 season 8, so she's definitely busy!

So, are there any clues about what the next I Know What You Did Last Summer movie will be about? While premise details are kept under wraps, there are some key clues that Jennifer isn't the only original cast member returning to the franchise.

In September 2024, Deadline revealed actor Freddie Prinze Jr. (who portrayed Ray Bronson) would reprise his role in the upcoming movie. What's more, he and Jennifer will join newcomers Chase Sui Wonders, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Hauer-King in restarting the series.

Congrats, Jennifer — and we seriously can't wait!
