Susan Lucci recently celebrated 55 years of All My Children — but is she open to returning to Pine Valley as Erica Kane?

Good Housekeeping caught up with the actress, who got personal about her heart health journey in honor of American Heart Month. On the heels of her All My Children at 55 conversation with Andy Cohen at the 92nd Street Y on January 14, we also had to ask for the latest on an All My Children reboot.

In the years following the show's cancellation in 2011, there have been a few attempts to bring it back to primetime TV. Susan's fellow AMC alumni, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, were previously confirmed as executive producers of a spinoff series titled Pine Valley back in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented it from going any further. At the time, Susan stayed quiet on whether or not she'd appear.

Most recently, in September 2024, People confirmed that Lifetime is developing a Christmas movie set in Pine Valley. At the time, there were no production dates set, according to the network.

When we inquired as to whether Susan is open to coming back for the Lifetime movie or another iteration of the original show — even just for a cameo — the 78-year-old didn't hesitate to answer. As it turns out, she's completely on board with the idea.

"I would hope it would be more than a cameo."

"Yes, of course I would," she told us. "And I would hope it would be more than a cameo, because that part was really wonderful, and I miss playing her."

Susan reflected on the show's 41-year run, and shared what it was like to be back in a room with Kelly, Mark and other members of the show's cast and crew this January at the 92NY event.

"We were in the trenches together, many, many hours, and that warmth is still there. And also our casting director, Judy Blye Wilson, was there and our head writer, Lorraine Broderick, was with us. So the audience could get a glimpse of what the behind the scenes was as well," she said.

And while she was on the show for its entire run, Susan shared that she actually learned something new about the series that day. They played a video of the original introduction, which was used as the opening sequence from the show's premiere in 1970 until it was updated in 1990. It featured a hand opening a book to reveal the title. "That hand belongs to Agnes Nixon, the creator of All My Children. I never knew that!"

Agnes passed away in 2016 at the age of 93. If there were to be a reboot, Susan noted, "It's so important to be in good hands. That would be really important because Agnes isn't here anymore to write, but Lorraine is. I am an actor who thinks the material is really important."

Someone needs to get Lorraine on the phone ASAP, because we're ready to see Erica Kane back in action!
