Sam Heughan is hitting the books again, and he's penning something that has him in high spirits.

The actor may be famous for his work on Outlander, but he has other passions, too. Sam is a New York Times bestselling author after publishing multiple books, and he's plenty busy running his popular beverage company Sassenach Spirits. Well, he's now merging his love of writing and cocktail making together in a way that fans certainly wouldn't have expected.

During a January 13 appearance on the Today show, The Couple Next Door star announced his plans to publish a cocktail recipe book. Titled The Cocktail Diaries: A Spirited Journey โ€” With Recipes, the literary work is set to hit bookshelves in the fall of 2025 and is already available for pre-order. What's more, Sam explained to Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer the basis behind his upcoming title.

"I've got this cocktail book coming out in November," he said in a video posted on YouTube. "It's available for pre-order, and it's all of my favorite cocktails, and also cocktails from friends as well, bartenders from around the world. It's a lot of fun."

"Absolutely great idea ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ bravo Sam ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธ," one person wrote on Instagram. "โค๏ธ Iโ€™m so proud about you Sam," another declared. As for how Sam feels about writing a cocktail book, he's been keeping pretty mum on what fans can expect from it. But he did subtly voice his elation for the new work, as he shared a pre-order link to The Cocktail Diaries on his Instagram story on January 15.
