It's the end of an era — Hoda Kotb is officially exiting the Today show.
After close to 30 years of working at NBC and almost 20 years working on the daytime series, the news anchor is leaving the Today show on January 10, 2025. Since her September 2024 announcement, Hoda has been open about wanting to spend more time with her daughters Haley Joy and Hope Catherine, along with wanting to "repot" her life and embark on a new chapter. What's more, she's excited about the next stage of Today without her, as Craig Melvin will take her spot as an official co-anchor beginning January 13, 2025.
Now, with Hoda leaving a job she's been at for so many years, folks may wonder about Hoda Kotb's net worth in 2025. Turns out, she's making a pretty penny for all she does — but it doesn't just come from her Today show salary.
What is Hoda Kotb's net worth in 2025?
According to Hollywood Life (and Celebrity Net Worth), Hoda Kotb has an estimated net worth of $30 million.
As for how Hoda acquired the large sum of money, it isn't all thanks to NBC. She has a few different career ventures that contribute to her overall net worth. Along with working on the Today show, she also makes money as a podcaster and author.
How much money did Hoda Kotb make hosting the Today show?
So, how much did Hoda make for being a news anchor on the Today show? Per a report from Page Six in 2018, NBC sources told the outlet that Hoda was making $7 million a year to star on Today.
This was a significant decrease in salary compared to show anchor Matt Lauer, who previously held Hoda's spot. Fortune reported that he made $20 million annually before being fired by NBC in November 2017 following allegations of inappropriate behavior. That said, a source told Page Six it's likely Hoda got more money the longer she worked as a news anchor. "Matt's salary reflected the long time he was on the show — 25 years," the source said at the time. "If things go well, Hoda could ask for more next time if she re-ups her contract."
That being said, we don't know exactly how much Hoda made annually on Today as of her last day on the air, though it's probably higher than the initial $7 million.
What's more, Hoda told People in January 2018 she was OK with her salary as long as she got to do a job that makes her happy.
"I think the whole money thing for me, I've always been sort of — I know it sounds ridiculous that I'm going to say this, but I really have done jobs I liked for the job I liked because I never wanted to be happy every other Friday on pay day," she said. "Like, I didn't want that to be the happy day. I wanted to feel good throughout. So no, I'm not making Matt Lauer money. Not even close."
What other projects does Hoda Kotb make money from?
In addition to Today, Hoda has other projects that keep her busy.
Back in 2010, Hoda began her writing career by releasing her memoir Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee. It was an instant success, and she later published four more nonfiction books between 2013 and 2020. She's also dabbled in the children's literature space, publishing her first picture book (called I've Loved You Since Forever and inspired by her oldest daughter Haley Joy) in 2018. Her latest title Hope Is a Rainbow came out in March 2024. This time, her youngest daughter Hope Catherine was the motivation behind the children's book.
Outside of television and publishing, Hoda also hosts a successful podcast called Making Space. With episodes airing since September 2021, the news anchor has intimate conversations with guests about their journeys and how they remain resilient during tough times. The venture also hit a major milestone in November 2024, when Hoda welcomed Lainey Wilson as her 50th guest on the podcast.
