Jack Schlossberg, the son of Caroline Kennedy and the grandson of JFK and Jackie, isn't shy about sharing his thoughts on social media — particularly his perspective on his family's legacy.
Lately, he's weighed in on a Sotheby's auction of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's clothes.
"Super creepy if you ask me. Have me on to discuss real issues w [Savannah Guthrie]," he wrote on Instagram stories, tagging the Today show, which was doing a promotional spot on the sale. (His post included a filmed clip of the segment; the video revealed that Schlossberg keeps a framed photo of Prince William and Kate on his console, presuming it was shot in his home.) "I think you should interview you people (me) instead of a dress you found somewhere to let Sotheby's make $$ off someone's death," he wrote.
Carolyn, of course, was Jack's aunt and married to his uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr. In the summer of 1999, they were both tragically killed in a plane crash.
The pieces from Carolyn's wardrobe are part of Sotheby's annual Fashion Icons sale.
"There is no greater expression of someone's life than their clothes," Lucy Bishop, Sotheby's fashion specialist, said in a release about the auction. "These garments speak volumes about her tragically short but remarkable life. They reveal a woman who made considered choices and navigated public scrutiny with intelligence and grace, displaying a generosity and kindness that touched those around her."
The sale is only the latest in a long history of Kennedy-related clothing and paraphernalia heading to the auction block. In September, Jackie Kennedy's wedding dress from her marriage to Aristotle Onassis sold for more than $24,000 at auction, three times its pre-sale estimate.
