When it comes to seeing a celebrity's name trend on X (formerly Twitter), it could mean a plethora of things. Well, Pat Sajak mysteriously found himself the center of attention for a good reason, and he decided he'd make a hilarious quip about it.
During the final game of the 2024 MLB World Series on October 30, folks didn't expect to see the former Wheel of Fortune host make an appearance on TV. They noticed him chilling behind home plate at Yankee Stadium, watching the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees and emerge victorious. Well, this caused many to call him out (in a good way, of course!) about being at the game on X, leading to his name trending on the site. What's more, Pat managed to find out about the unexpected uptick in searches about him ... and he had quite an interesting reaction in response.
"Noticed I was trending," he began his post on X. "Thought I had passed away. Turns out I'm fine."
While Pat clearly was having some fun at his own expense, it did manage to catch the eye of fans, who had their own opinions about it.
"Not gone just missed," one person wrote on X. "I was watching the game and I jumped up ... 'There's Pat Sajak!!' 🤣," another exclaimed. "Congrats on your continued existence!" a different follower added.
Thankfully, all is good and there's still a lot more to come from Pat! And while he has officially passed Wheel of Fortune hosting duties to Ryan Seacrest, he'll be back in his game show suit as he hosts Celebrity Wheel of Fortune in the spring of 2025.
And if that isn't enough, he's still working on the show as a behind-the-scenes consultant. Meaning: Pat is still involved with the Wheel of Fortune universe — just not in a way folks see on their screens every day.
