Dancing With the Stars season 33 is knee-deep into the competition, and the show keeps throwing major twists our way!

As the ABC competition series continues to get into all the dancing fans' hearts may desire, the show hit a surprise snag recently when it didn't air the highly anticipated third episode on October 1. At the time, viewers were disappointed to not see their favorite celebrities on the ballroom dance floor, and there were hopes that Dancing With the Stars would be back on the air very soon.

Well, fans got their wish, as Dancing With the Stars is set to come back this week. And if that's not enough, the show surprised everyone by revealing they're going to get two episodes that will air on Monday, October 7 at 8 p.m. ET and on Tuesday, October 8 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+. But while it's exciting to have a two-night event, viewers need to be aware of a few important notes before watching.

Why is Dancing With the Stars airing tonight?

As folks may remember, the October 1 episode of Dancing With the Stars got cancelled due to the Vice Presidential Debate that occurred between Tim Walz and J.D. Vance. This led to the surprise schedule change, resulting in two new episodes airing this week.

While Dancing With the Stars will air new episodes this week, viewers should take note the October 7 episode is actually pre-taped from the week before. This means fans can't necessarily vote in real-time, although they will have the opportunity to cast their choice that night to see who will be left in the competition.

Luckily, fans won't have to worry about missing more dancing time than that, as the October 8 episode will be airing live tomorrow night. As for the results from voting on Monday night, they will get combined with the judges' scores from the Tuesday night episode which will determine which couple gets eliminated from the competition.

Phew — that's a lot of information to get through! Now, let's get into all the fun stuff folks can expect ahead of time.

For the October 7 episode, the celebrity competitors will be participating in Soul Train Night, with Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez joining the judges' panel as a guest. If that wasn't enough star power for you, the October 8 episode will see the couples dancing to the greatest heavy metal songs, with KISS singer Gene Simmons being the guest judge for Hair Metal Night.

Well, looks like we have a lot to look forward to this week, and we're putting our dancing shoes on for this!
