Patrick J. Adams is reflecting on an important moment in his life — and it's one that he has incredible video footage of.
The Suits alum released the first episode of his Sidebar podcast with former co-star Sarah Rafferty on September 24, where the two watch episodes and reflect on their time working on the USA Network drama. At one point in the first podcast installment, Sarah and Patrick (who played Donna Paulsen and Mike Ross, respectively) talk about an important scene that happens in the pilot. As they talk about the moment where Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) gives Mike a job as a law associate despite never going to law school, Patrick got emotional about how that instance clocked a change he never expected.
"It's weird to have a moment on camera where you could see your life change, you know? Because this is where my life changed," he explained to Sarah in a clip posted on Instagram. "The show changed my whole life. It's changed my career. It's changed the way that I work. It's changed the people in my life. So many things wouldn't have happened were it not for the show. And I can kind of distill it all to this one scene between Harvey and Mike in this room. It's pretty wild."
When fans watched Patrick reflect on one of the most iconic moments in Suits, they all had similar sentiments about it.
"That scene is ICONIC! I will turn on the show JUST to watch that scene lol," one person wrote in the comments. "The pilot of Suits is one of the best if not the best start of a show," another agreed. "It kind of changed my life too ❤️," a different follower added.
As fans of the show remember, Suits ran on the air for nine seasons (from 2011 to 2019). The show received an unexpected resurgence in the summer of 2023, when the show dropped on Netflix and gained an audience of viewers who hadn't seen it when episodes originally premiered. What's more, Patrick shared he never thought about revisiting the show ... until it saw this newfound love.
"I've been sort of keeping it in this box because I didn't want to interact with it, and I was too scared to watch it and all my insecurities," he told BuzzFeed about the podcast. "After this huge outpouring of support and this renaissance of it last summer, it was like, we have to watch this show. If we're gonna watch this show, let's watch it together and engage with fans and make a thing of it."
