The wait is almost over! Sunday Night Football returns to our screens on Sunday, September 8, with Carrie Underwood performing the show open for the 2024-2025 NFL season.

Carrie has been the face of Sunday Night Football for 12 years, since accepting the job back in 2013. Over the years, fans have welcomed Carrie and her inspiring SNF vocals into their homes, learning the words to “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night?” "Oh, Sunday Night," and "Game On" in the process. Having that kind of impact in more than 20 million households each week isn’t lost on the 41-year-old singer.

"Growing up we didn't have cable or anything like that, so whatever was on TV was what we watched,” she told Yahoo Entertainment. “Fortunately, that was a lot of football on Sundays.”

So to grace the screen that’s so long been woven into her family memories is nothing short of special. And as it turns out, fans feel the same way—Carrie is now a staple of their Sunday Night Football festivities.

“Thanks Carrie, warm us up! It’s Football Season College & NFL,” one fan commented on the NBC SNF countdown post showcasing snippets of Carrie’s opening performance. “Anxiously waiting for that one year @carrieunderwood is asked to do the SB halftime show,” someone else commented. “That’s our girl,” another fan exclaimed. “Best theme song in sports,” someone else chimed in.

Carrie is having a big year! In addition to making a return to SNF, the “Before He Cheats” singer also announced her return to American Idol, this time as a judge. Now, you can catch Carrie and her stunning vocals (and outfits!) on Sundays and Mondays.
