For the last few years, Hallmark has made a name for itself with emotional shows like When Calls the Heart and The Way Home. With both series being successful for the network, it's only fitting folks get the chance to see a new heartwarming story come to light. Well, Hallmark is ready to do just that, and they're taking viewers to a fictional town that has a lot of drama ... and fried poultry.

The Chicken Sisters is the first drama series to debut on the all-new streamer Hallmark+, set to premiere on Tuesday, September 10. Fans will get to see a tale of two feuding families who both own chicken restaurants. While we won't spoil all the details for you, let's just say these folks will be finding themselves in each other's orbits in ways that they never expected to come together.

With names like Lea Thompson, Wendie Malick and way more starring in the show, why not learn more about The Chicken Sisters? After all, the title alone has us wanting to know more. And based on the clues we discovered about the upcoming drama, we're sure you'll want to watch it too.

What is The Chicken Sisters about?

According to a press release from Variety, the new series is based on the New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by K.J. Dell’Antonia.

The eight-episode series will follow a group of women whose families run competing restaurants in the fictional town of Merinac, Kansas. When one woman finds out about a new reality show that will give $100,000 to the winners, she decides to put the two establishments in for a chance to claim the coveted winning title. The only issue? This woman is the daughter of one restaurant, while marrying into the other ... meaning a lot of bad blood has brewed between the two families over the last few generations. Secrets not only get uncovered, but it leaves folks picking sides.

"When I read The Chicken Sisters, I fell in love with these characters," executive producer Annie Mebane said in an official statement. "On the surface, the show is about two restaurants competing on a reality show, but it’s about the baggage we pass down through the generations and learning to unpack it. I love telling this multigenerational story focused on women: their frustrations, their desires, and ultimately, their healing. We’ve assembled an incredible cast, and we can’t wait to welcome audiences to Merinac."

Sounds like something to tune into!
