It's hard to think that there was a time when Robin Roberts wasn't a news anchor on Good Morning America. Well, it turns out she had a very different job back in the day, and it's one fans certainly wouldn't expect.

In a video posted on GMA's TikTok on August 14, the show's social team caught up with the ABC journalist ahead of her going on the air. When they asked her what her first ever job was, she shocked fans by revealing she was a school bus driver at 18 years old. Not only that, but she started the gig for a very interesting reason.

"School bus driver, when I was a senior in high school," she said in the clip. "I turned 18 my senior year, and the tennis coach said we needed a driver, because we were always having t0 cancel our matches because we didn't have a driver. So, I was the driver."

That wasn't all Robin had to say during this career revelation. As it turned out, since she grew up in a small town (she was raised in Pass Christian, Mississippi), her first job had one more interesting element to it.

"Now, because it was a small school district down there in Mississippi, when a driver would call in sick, I was the substitute driver," she added. "So, can you imagine pulling up, opening up the school bus door, and your classmates seeing your face behind the wheel? Priceless. School bus drivers rule!"

Upon learning about Robin's first foray into the workforce, fans were certainly surprised in the comments.

"No way Robin a school bus driver that's awesome," one person wrote. "You go girl. Still an important job," another agreed. "Robin’s job was cool 😎," a different follower added.

Now, we know that Robin eventually went on to become a journalist and started her career in the early 1980s. But if Robin decided to get back into the school bus driver seat for an honorary drive around New York City, we'd be ready to get on with her.
