Robin Roberts is cheering on someone special at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and it turns out she has a special connection with her!

The Team U.S.A. women's 3x3 basketball team is currently vying for a medal at the international summer games, and one of the women competing is Cierra Burdick. It turns out she is a former intern for Robin at Good Morning America, and she sent a personal shoutout to her former boss during the ABC show's July 30 episode. Upon seeing the segment featuring her previous employee, Robin couldn't help but express her pride in seeing Cierra achieve her sporting dreams at the Olympics.

"A member of the GMA family is going for gold in Paris!" she exclaimed in a clip posted on Instagram. "[Cierra] was a star ... and she was hoping she would make it to the Olympics one day. There she is and I'm so incredibly proud of her."

"I remember when she was here playing in the area," Robin added about seeing Cierra's athletic talent ahead of the Olympics. "A group of us, the crew, we went to see her play. She has really wormed her way into our hearts. Thank you for that shout out from her."

When folks learned of Robin's unexpected connection to the Paris Olympics, it didn't take long for people to bombard the comments with words of excitement.

"SO COOL!! CONGRATULATIONS to her!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," one person wrote. "She's the ABSOLUTE BEST!! #BurdysCrew 🏀🧡," another exclaimed. "Aww that's awesome!!!" a different follower declared.

According to a report from USA Today, Cierra played basketball for the University of Tennessee before being selected by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2015 WNBA draft. Sadly, she was only on the team for a month before being released.

After some time, Cierra eventually played for the Seattle Storm and won the Commissioner's Cup in 2021, and she later played on team U.S.A. as they won gold medals at the FIBA World Cup in Vienna, Austria and the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.

We wish Cierra all the best and let's go U.S.A.!
