The Olympics are officially underway in Paris, and we are so excited to see the athletic feats in all of our favorite sports. But before the athletes hit the track, pool, or mat, they got a very special message from the gold medalist of country music, Dolly Parton.
Dolly took to social media to share a patriotic rendition of Queen's "We Are the Champions," and we can all agree that there's no better hype song, especially when it comes from Dolly herself! She wrote, "Feeling in the @olympics spirit ✨Can’t wait to cheer everyone on, you are all champions! 🥇"
She belts out the 1977 power ballad, which appears on her 2023 album Rockstar, as inspiring images from the Olympics play. In true Dolly fashion, she pulled out all the stops with her outfits for the video, wearing gold, silver, and bronze bedazzled gowns befitting an awards podium.
Fans flooded the comments section with praise for Dolly's rendition:
- "Dolly, you’re gold all the way. Let’s go Team 🇺🇸!"
- "Our champion always and forever Dolly Parton 💕👑💕"
- "Her voice gave me such goosebumps!"
- "Oh. My. Goodness. Immediate tears."
- "The wardrobe was on point !"
Dolly is a longtime fan of the Olympics. She told NBC, "I love the Olympics! I do my best to plan my schedule to watch as much of it as I possibly can. I tape it just in case I miss the live action on a certain day and watch it back as soon as possible. I laugh, I cry, I scream, there are no losers in the Olympics as they have all spent a lifetime preparing but I celebrate with the ones that go away with the gold, silver, and bronze medals."
We'll start campaigning for a Dolly performance at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles!
