If there's one thing we can say about actress Viola Davis, it's that, whether she's playing cutthroat criminal defense attorney and professor Annalise Keating in How to Get Away With Murder, former first lady Michelle Obama in The First Lady or, more recently, Michael Jordan's mother Deloris Jordan in Air, she makes each role memorable with her exciting and bold performances. And a bold actress who absolutely mesmerizes audiences when she's on the screen needs some equally fierce bold lashes. Lucky for you, the 58-year-old star just shared the secret to getting her eyes to pop.
The EGOT award-winning actress shared the hair and makeup products she used to get ready for Cannes with Marie Claire in a May 2024 interview, and you'd be surprised to know that many of them are affordable for the everyday girl — especially her go-to mascara: the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Panorama Mascara.
With a 4.3-star rating, the mascara claims to volumize, lengthen and thicken eyelashes with a long-lasting formula. And, based on reviews, Viola isn't the only one who loves the product. "Seriously, it's like an instant lash extension in a tube," one reviewer wrote online. Another said, "It makes my lashes noticeably longer, and brightens up my eyes. It’s very layerable too. The product stayed consistant in texture and never got hard or clumpy."
What's more, the beauty experts in our Good Housekeeping Institute named this mascara the best for sensitive eyes in their tests. It not only got perfect scores for going on smoothly and not causing irritation, but they agree, the buildable formula doesn't clump or flake.
The Julliard alum continued to share that, with the help of longtime makeup artist Autumn Moultrie and hairstylist Jamika Wilson, she's been able to use makeup to help her showcase an extroverted side to her somewhat demure personality, allowing her to feel more comfortable and confident in front of the cameras off-screen.
"There's a part of me that although I'm shy and I'm introverted, I am a Leo," Viola told Marie Claire. "I like walking in the room and people seeing me [...] and I love eyes because I feel like that is an asset of mine."
You could say that this move of embracing her favorite features by enhancing them goes hand in hand with her own goal for this year. According to Marie Claire, she's more committed than ever to "fall even more in love with who she is . . .".
We'd like to say that we think she's off to a great start. And if it helps, we love who she is!
