There aren't many times where Al Roker and Kelly Clarkson's names end up in the same sentence. But in typical Al fashion, he called out Kelly for the most wholesome reason.
Ahead of promoting his upcoming cookbook Al Roker's Recipes to Live By (which he co-wrote with his daughter Courtney Roker Laga), the Today show star answered some food-related questions for the NBC daytime series' digital site. When Today.com asked him about who he'd love to host for a dream dinner party, Al didn't hesitate to share that Kelly had made it on the list.
"Dream dinner party guest list?" read the question in the article posted on June 5.
"Oprah [Winfrey], Bill Nye the Science Guy, Jim Carrey, Samuel L. Jackson, Kelly Clarkson and Melissa Clark of New York Times Cooking," he candidly responded.
Talk about a talented group of people to eat with! While Al didn't specify exactly what he'd cook Kelly, he did mention that he has a go-to dish he loves to make on a consistent basis.
"Pan-seared salmon, brown rice and oven roasted broccoli," he shared while giving his preferred instructions and ingredients. "Separate a big head of broccoli into individual florets, spritz with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, za’atar and red chili flakes and roast until the edges are brown and crunchy."
As for how Al got into cooking, he explained to the outlet his love of food came from his mother Isabel, who he used to watch as she cooked in the kitchen.
"I’ve always enjoyed cooking," he added. "I’ve learned by basically watching my mom — I think a lot of people learn that way. I liked watching her, and also I like to eat. So if you’re gonna like to eat, you better learn how to cook. Because you’re not always going to have your mother making food for you."
Well, if Al made this meal for Kelly, we're sure it would be a winner!
