It's official, Walker fans. After four seasons on the air, the CW drama is coming to an end.
Deadline shocked fans on May 21 when the outlet announced Walker had been canceled after first debuting on primetime TV back in January 2021. The publication wrote the CW will pull Walker close to a year after Nexstar bought the network from CBS (per The Hollywood Reporter), with most scripted shows being canceled to make way for unscripted series and shows from other countries.
At the time of the reveal, the CW expressed gratitude for the hard work the cast and crew put into the series ahead of its finale on Wednesday, June 26.
"We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors and producers of Walker for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons," The CW said in an official statement. "We also want to give a special thanks to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of The CW family for over 20 years and was integral to some of the biggest hits on the network."
Shortly after news broke about Walker's cancellation, Jared (who portrays the titular role) went on Instagram to voice how grateful he was to put on the cowboy hat and go on this journey with the CW.
"Howdy y’all. It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you. #Walker will not be airing on #CW for a fifth season," he wrote alongside a photo of a straw cowboy hat. "It’s a tough piece of news to be sure, but we are SO thankful for the #WalkerFamily that has been built, both on set and off. After four seasons together, we have felt the love and support from the entire #WalkerFamily, and we will be forever grateful."
"In this world, home isn’t a 'place'; it’s a relationship," he continued. "'Places' can be lost. 'Relationships' can live forever. Our gratitude and love for the entire #WalkerFamily will live forever. It has been a unique honor to be a part of the cast and crew (and fandom!) that helped #Walker tell the stories that we told. I will forever smile on the years I got to spend with the cast and crew and studio and network and fandom that made this all possible. Til we ride again. 🤠❤️."
Upon seeing the announcement, fans were immediately heartbroken about Walker being no more.
"Very sorry to hear, thank you for putting your heart and soul into everything you do!" one person wrote. "I'm absolutely heartbroken ... loved this show! Thank you all so much for 4 wonderful years and sending y'all so much love ❤️," another penned. "I was so curious to see what would happen next 😢," a different follower added.
It looks like we'll need to tune in to see what awaits Cordell Walker and give the show a proper send-off.
