Things are heating up for the first responders on Fire Country, and two pivotal characters are having a heart-to-heart about how their loved ones are handling all the danger around them.
In an exclusive clip for Good Housekeeping, fans of the hit CBS drama get a chance to see how Bode Leone (Max Thieriot) and Gabriela Perez (Stephanie Arcila) are faring in the penultimate episode of season 2, airing May 10 at 9 p.m. ET.
Amid Cal Fire and Three Rock assisting on a major wildfire affecting much of northern California, the exes find themselves working out in the woods in the middle of the night. As Bode approaches Gabriela with the intent on finding information about what his father Vince (Billy Burke) may be keeping from him and his mom Sharon (Diane Farr), Gabriela tells him she can't focus on his problems — her father Manny (Kevin Alejandro) is going through some issues of his own.
"Is something going on with my dad?" Bode asks Gabriela. "It's just seems like he's tense about something."
"I'm too worried about my own dad," Gabriela responds before sharing her own family qualms. "When I was little and he would get like this, it was like I was just caught in the middle between his fire and my mom's. It was just chaos. I hated it then and I don't want it back now."
As Bode watches Gabriela sort out her feelings for the situation at hand, (as Manny is at risk of being booted from Three Rock after starting a fight at the Firefighters' Ball), he decides to try and comfort her among the craziness. This leads him to share that things will hopefully calm down for her family, once Manny's fate with the fire department is officially delivered.
"I'm guessing that your dad is feeling a little cornered, too," he adds. "And whatever Cal Fire decides, it can't be worse than waiting. I'm sure once he knows something, he'll settle again."
Given how Bode's dad is currently hiding a potentially fatal heart condition and Manny could be out of a job, there's a lot going on for the folks of Fire Country. And this is all happening as Bode tries to accept Gabriela marrying Diego Moreno (Rafael de la Fuente). If this is only a preview of what's to come, we're definitely going to tune in to see what happens!
