The only thing more vibrant than Drew Barrymore's kinetic smile and energy? The bold multicolored gown she stepped out in a few weeks ago.
The daytime talk show host kicked off her birthday weekend by attending her February 20 "Birthday Show" in a pleated Jenny Packham gown in pastel shades of green, yellow, pink, red and orange with a deep neckline and cinched at the waist. The dress also had an attached cape covering her shoulders and arms. Although Drew didn't celebrate turning 49 until her actual birthday on February 22, she used the taping as a reason to dress to the nines, accessorizing with dangling pink and green jeweled earrings and rings by Irene Neuwirth and pink Kiki boots by Marc Jacobs. Her dirty blonde hair was put in a side part and pulled back in a low ponytail, with a few loose curls left out to frame her face. She accentuated her beauty with minimal makeup and a nude pink lip.
The 50 First Dates star was further accessorized by Ross Matthews, her good friend, co-anchor for the Drew's News section of her show and producer, who matched with her in a muted pink velvet tux. And naturally, her fans had a lot to say when photos of her candy-colored ensemble hit Instagram.
"That dress is my childhood dreams 🧚🏼♀️😍 🦄 😍🌈😍✨," someone wrote on social media. "Love the gown!! Couldn’t be a prettier birthday choice! 💖," another chimed in. "Stunning. She is a goddess," a different person commented. One fan said, "This dress represents so much [of] her daily joy. Perfection! 🌈💛".
GET THE LOOK: While Drew's dress was quite expensive, you can find a similar look on Amazon for much less! There's a sundress for just $36, and an off-the-shoulder version for less than $20!
Drew's dress was just one of the things her audience was left talking about. Her birthday episode featured Ross surprising her with a ride in the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile — a childhood dream of hers — as well as a video message announcement from fellow talk show host and friend Jimmy Fallon who shared that Drew would be receiving her very own wax figure at Madame Tussauds.
Instead of cake, Drew and Ross celebrated with a sweet treat from Van Leeuwen Ice Cream — a specialty Drew Berry-More Cheesecake flavor created just for Drew that consists of cheesecake ice cream with swirls of raspberry jam and chunks of graham cracker crust — brought out by friend and comedian Rachel Dratch.
It has us begging the question, if this is how Drew celebrates 49, whatever will be planned for next year's big 5-0?
