Don't mess with Whoopi Goldberg when it comes to her holiday meal prep.
The longtime TV personality appeared on The View on November 27, where she recapped her Thanksgiving with her co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin. As she detailed making her late mother's turkey recipe, she mentioned how fans critiqued her cooking process when she documented preparing the dish on Instagram. As Ana noted, the video sparked "the great turkey controversy" as people felt Whoopi and her friend should have been wearing gloves when stuffing the bird. Whoopi however, felt differently and wanted everyone to know.
"You know I never do this, and people lost their minds," she told the audience about her cooking methods for the holidays. "My friend, Salvo ... he was stuffing the turkey with his hands. He’s Italian. That’s what we do."
But that wasn't the end of Whoopi's thoughts on the subject. She continued to explain how she prefers cooking at home, making sure to tell her followers that she always washes her hands before cooking — especially ahead of stuffing a turkey.
"I just wanna address the people who had problems with the issue of us working without gloves," she added. "Look — I wash my hands at my house. We all wash our hands at our house. I don't know what kind of family y'all come from."
Despite the commentary on the Sister Act star's culinary methods on Thanksgiving Day, many rushed to the comments section on YouTube in solidarity with Whoopi.
"Nobody wears gloves when they are cooking at home ," one person wrote on YouTube. "Who wears gloves while cooking at home?" another inquired. "How else [are] you supposed to stuff the bird?" a different viewer added.
As long as Whoopi enjoyed the end result of her cooking, that's really all that matters!
