Lauren Graham may be familiar with how much Gilmore Girls means to her fans, but she recently was left shocked by a comment about how young some of those fans might actually be!
The Parenthood star joined Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb on the Today show on November 17, where she appeared to promote her book, Have I Told You This Already. When the discussion started, it focused on Gilmore Girls, where Jenna confessed that a lot of the parents in her circle are asking if she's started watching the show with her oldest daughter, Mila.
“It is Gilmore Girls season!" Jenna exclaimed on the air. "And can I just tell you, because I have a 10-year-old, that every single mom I know is like, ‘Have you rewatched Gilmore Girls with your daughter?’ It’s a thing!”
“Really? At 10?!” Lauren shockingly replied with her jaw dropped.
“They grow up a little faster these days," Jenna responded to the question. "Do you think she’s too young?"
Upon hearing Jenna inquire about her thoughts on letting Mila watch Gilmore Girls, Lauren, who played Lorelai Gilmore, explained that she understood the appeal of viewing it together. Although she said that younger kids may not understand all of what's happening, that just give them the chance to rewatch the show later on together again.
"One thing that’s great about the show is it kind of meets you where you are," she elaborated. "And the stuff that’s a little, uh, beyond her will go over her head. And then you can rewatch it when she’s older."
As an FYI: Common Sense Media, an organization that rates movies, video games and television shows, says that Gilmore Girls is best for the 12 and up age.
