Get ready, folks, because Rob Lowe will officially be back on our TV screens. While it's not for his portrayal of Owen Strand in 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5, it's a real treat for Rob fans.

In an official announcement by Deadline on September 13, news broke that the actor would be stepping into a hosting role for Fox's latest competition series. Set to debut sometime in the winter 2023-2024 midseason, Rob will now be the face of a show called The Floor.

The Floor combines every element needed to create a hit game show: a proven global format built on spectacle and suspense, pedigree producers ... and a superstar host with universal appeal in Rob Lowe," Allison Wallach, President, Unscripted Programming, of Fox Entertainment, told the outlet. "Rob’s command of the format makes this a fun, edge of your seat, play-along competition we know viewers of all ages will enjoy."

Fox also shared a sneak peek on YouTube of what The Floor will look like when it airs next year. When folks caught wind of both Rob's involvement, they immediately rushed to the comments to voice their excitement.

"Can’t wait to watch!!! This show looks 🔥," one person wrote on YouTube. "This looks like a lot of fun! Love a good trivia show," another agreed. "This looks like a fun show! I’ll definitely be watching!" a different viewer added.

So, what is the premise of The Floor and what can folks expect? Deadline wrote that the show "sees 81 contestants face off in quiz duels on a giant LED floor divided into a hundred equal squares, each representing its own field of knowledge." What's more, a randomly chosen competitor must choose who they'll go up against in order to take over their opponent's square and expand their territory. The last person who gains control of the entire Floor wins a $250,000 cash prize.

It's also important to note that this isn't the first time Rob has taken on a gig like this for Fox. The Parks and Recreation actor previously hosted the game show Mental Samurai, which eventually got cancelled in May 2022 after two seasons on the air. Guess we'll need to keep our calendars open because we know what we'll be tuning into soon!
