The entire world it seems knows Kaley Cuoco for portraying Penny on The Big Bang Theory, but it turns out a major person in her life just recently found out!
In an interview with W Magazine ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Kaley's boyfriend Tom Pelphrey opened up, and admitted to not knowing about his partner's famous role because he never bought into the BBT phenomenon the rest of the world had gotten behind for 12 seasons.
"I never watched The Big Bang Theory," he shared in a video posted on Instagram on August 23. "[As] a matter of fact, I'll tell you a story."
The Ozark actor then discloses it wasn't until the first time he brought Kaley home to meet his family in New Jersey, where his mother's partner was apparently a huge fan of the CBS sitcom, did he find out about her success on the show.
"[My mother's partner's] calling Kaley, 'Penny, Penny, Penny,' and I have no clue what's going on," he continued. "So I pull Kaley aside and I'm like, 'I'm sorry. I don't understand what's happening. Why does he keep calling you Penny?' She's like, 'That's my character on Big Bang Theory.' I was completely unaware."
When fans learned of Tom's surprise confession about Kaley's past, they immediately ran to the comments to share how shocked they were by the news.
"How does he not know who she is? 😂" one person wrote. "My dog knows who Penny is 🤔," another joked.
Regardless, it doesn't seem like Tom's lack of BBT knowledge hurt their relationship. The two welcomed a beautiful baby girl earlier this year, and fans agreed, the way the speaks about the two of them is priceless.
