So long, farewell? Looks like it may not be goodbye just yet for Ted Lasso.
In the season 3 finale, named after The Sound of Music number, Jason Sudeikis' Ted Lasso embarks on an emotional goodbye tour of AFC Richmond on his way back to reunite with his son, Henry. Meanwhile, Roy (Brett Goldstein) takes over in Ted's stead, flanked by Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) and Nate (Nick Mohammed) as they piece together the once shredded "Believe" sign.
When co-creators Jason and Brendan mapped out the AppleTV+ comedy about a transplant American football coach in England, they always intended it to be a three-season arc. But it seems its wide critical acclaim (11 Emmy wins!) and warm reception put a slight hiccup in those plans, with many fans asking the question: Is Ted Lasso really ending with season three? Here's everything we know so far.

Do we know if there will be Ted Lasso season 4?
Apple has neither confirmed or denied that there will be a season 4. In fact, director Declan Lowney recently renewed hope among Ted Lasso fans when he spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on August 12.
"Everybody knew it was the end, but it’s also the end for now," he told the outlet. "It’s going to be two or three years before anything happens — if anything happens — so let’s try and tie up all these stories properly."
And while some members of the cast were keen on continuing to film, that's not to say it didn't come with a great cost. "Every time we do a season, it’s a year in England, away from their families," Lowney shared. "That’s a tough old slog [over the past] three-and-a-half years, four years."
He added: "I think that it [could have] kept going, but it had done its thing — the three-season arc, that was the deal, that was what [Jason] wanted. But, I feel there’s something else ... There will be other things."
What's more, a week after the last episode of season three aired, Apple TV+ tweeted a photo of Coach Beard, Roy and Nate, with the caption reading "Smells like potential." Fans speculated a spinoff in the replies as Nate's offscreen actor only fueled the theory when he reacted to the tweet with an emoji of its mouth zipped shut.
Actress Juno Temple also enjoyed the idea of a series centered on her character, Keeley, and Hannah Waddingham's Rebecca since the fictional leads pitched a women’s soccer team at the end of last season. “I think it would be amazing to see how they would continue to do wonderful things together and also how that then would bleed out into other women passing that on to other women,” she told Deadline.
Despite talk of possible continuations and spinoffs, Jason has doubled down on saying that the "story is done." The SNL alum said on the Fly on the Wall podcast earlier this year: "It sounds like such a political answer, but it’s the truth. We only conceived these three [seasons], then this thing became this big old thing."
Brendan, on the other hand, left the door slightly more ajar. “We don’t know,” he wrote on a Reddit thread. “We need a break and will take one presently. Nothing has been ruled out, everything is possible; but that includes the possibility that we’re done. He continued: "We won’t know until we’ve sat with it for a while, decompressed, etc.”
Despite there being no official news on whether or not Ted Lasso will come back for season 4, Nick Mohammed may have just teased viewers about the possibility in a new behind-the-scenes photo on X (formerly known as Twitter). The image showed him standing next to a camera while filming season 3. But as he seemingly inferred in his caption, there may be hope just yet for new episodes.
"One year to the day since #TedLasso wrapped," he wrote on November 17. "And one year to the day that I accidentally posted this spoiler of Nate in AFC Richmond kit! Promise it won’t happen again on season 4 — now wait."
