Matthew Gray Gubler popped back on Instagram ahead of his next major project, and he may have just given fans a quick look at what he's working on.
The Criminal Minds alum is gearing up for the release of his new kids book The Little Kid With the Big Green Hand, and he went on social media to share a taste of what he does while not working. Posting an Instagram photo featuring his mother Marilyn, folks saw the two enjoying a quick meal together while Matthew donned a witch costume and hat. While it's not clear if he's already embracing his established love of Halloween, the actor did use the opportunity to convey a heartfelt message to his followers.
"Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!" he captioned the image on August 4.
Since it's rare for the Alvin and the Chipmunks star to share life updates online, folks immediately reacted when Matthew's surprise picture started circulating.
"MATTHEW FINALLY POSTED YEYWYW," someone cheered. "Great photo! Please post more, we’ve missed seeing your updates. 🙌❤️," a different follower begged.
This isn't the only time fans witnessed a bit of Matthew's social media action this month. On August 3, the King Knight actor went on his Instagram story to drop a childhood photo of himself dressed up as Indiana Jones. He also jokingly referenced the first film in the popular pop-culture franchise, writing, "Raiders of the Lost Bar Mitzvah."
Thankfully, it won't be long before folks will likely see Matthew back in action. As his next book is set to come out on September 26, it's plausible to think he'll be going on Instagram a lot more in order to promote it. Plus, given the massive success of his 2019 title Rumple Buttercup: A Story of Bananas, Belonging and Being Yourself, it's highly possible fans will hear a lot about his new work, as well.
And if that's not enough, fans may know that the 68 Kill actor's favorite holiday, Halloween, is right around the corner. If he follows a similar pattern to the last two years, his followers will get an annual Gublerween video from him in no time.
