After weeks of Today show host Al Roker being absent from the news desk to recover from blood clots in his leg and lungs, the TV personality is officially back on the air. But ahead of his exciting return, he took some time to spend the holiday season with loved ones.

On December 29, Al's wife Deborah Roberts took to Twitter to commemorate a heartfelt family moment with a picture. Posing alongside her husband, their son Nick and their daughter Leila, the group embraced each other and smiled at the camera during their day trip.

"Family outing. First one in a while," the ABC journalist wrote on Twitter. "What joy!"

Shortly after Deborah uploaded the post to social media, fans of the NBC weatherman were thrilled to see him spending time with his family. Today show fans immediately began sending their love in the Twitter comments section.

"That’s great to see the entire family out & about, especially Al. [You're] looking good Al," one person wrote. "It is so wonderful seeing you & Al out!! I hope this means he’s progressing & recovering!" a different follower commented. "I’m so glad to see this! Best wishes!!" another user replied.

Deborah's heartwarming family snap came just days before it was announced Al would be coming back to Studio 1A. Throughout his time away from the Today show, his co-hosts have given viewers health updates, continuously rallying around the longtime broadcast journalist. What's more, the NBC star was surprised by his fellow staff members when they brought the Christmas spirit right to door and sang him holiday carols.

As far as how folks at the Today show feel about Al's return, they couldn't be more thrilled. "This is his place. He’ll be in his seat, right where he belongs. We cannot wait for that," Hoda Kotb said on the show about the meteorologist.
