Last June, fans of the Hallmark show When Calls the Heart were thrilled to hear the news that the long-running series, inspired by Janette Oke's book of the same name, was officially returning for a season 10.
"When Calls the Heart continues to push the limits as to what we can achieve with this show," said Lisa Hamilton, Executive VP of Programming for Hallmark Media, in a statement. "There are many more stories still to be told about the lives of the beloved characters in this series and we cannot wait for everyone at home to tune in to see what unfolds."
With this in mind, viewers are wondering exactly where the show plans to go for its first double-digit season. Fellow Hearties know that When Calls the Heart season 9 ended with a lot of surprises and questions about what our favorite characters would be dealing with next.
What will wedding planning look like for Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Lucas (Chris McNally)? How will the couple's friendship with Nathan (Kevin McGarry), resident Mountie of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police force, continue to evolve? Will he find a love interest of his own?
What kind of health problems is Bill (Jack Wagner) facing, and could it be fatal? How will Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) and Lee (Kavan Smith) adapt to their growing family? Is a redemption arc in the cards for Henry (Martin Cummins), who intentionally caused the local mine to collapse?

Any there any clues about When Calls the Heart season 10?
One major change happening behind the cameras is the introduction of a new showrunner. According to Deadline, Lindsay Sturman, who has been writing and producing in the TV industry for years, is putting her touch on the upcoming episodes.
When asked about the future for the show's favorite couple Elizabeth and Lucas, co-executive producer and writer Elizabeth Stewart told Entertainment Tonight, "All I can say is that the course of true love never did run smooth." This makes us believe that a bumpy road might be in store for the two.
As for the other big couple in the show right now, she thinks Rosemary will be just as "take-charge" with her pregnancy as she is in everyday life, "which of course means she's in for some shock and surprise." She spilled to ET that in spite of Henry's past misdeeds, she thinks he "will continue on his path towards redemption and forgiveness."
Additionally, the network surprised folks when Parade dropped sneak peek details on their behalf. The outlet posted a 30-second first look clip, which showed the Hope Valley characters as they experience milestones in the upcoming season. One scene shows Elizabeth reminiscing on the life she built in Hope Valley, while another features Rosemary and Lee ecstatic about their growing family.
"We are on a big adventure," Rosemary says as Lee smiles up at her with hands on her pregnant belly. "Yes we are," he replies back.
Parade also shared info on what fans can expect from the premiere episode, which is titled "Carpe Diem." According to the publication's synopsis, the residents in Hope Valley deal with economic problems, while Elizabeth and Bill hear that the kids in town discovered something that could change what they know about their peaceful abode.
