On the heels of Jeopardy! champion Mattea Roach snagging her 23rd game win in a heart-pumping final round Thursday night, fans are also celebrating the quiz show for another incredible reason.

On May 5, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. At the upcoming 2022 Daytime Emmys, Jeopardy! will be in the running for Outstanding Game Show, Outstanding Lighting Direction and Outstanding Technical Team. Since premiering in 1984, Jeopardy! has won a whopping 41 Emmys, making it the most decorated game show in the U.S. In particular, Alex Trebek won six Emmys for Outstanding Game Show Host and former executive producer Harry Friedman won 14 for Outstanding Game Show.

Now, the trivia show is being recognized again for its one-of-a-kind entertainment. “It's truly an honor to be nominated, @daytimeemmys!” read a post from the show's official Twitter and Instagram pages.

Right on cue, Jeopardy! fans flooded the show’s social media comments section with festive messages. What’s more, folks also gave Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings a nod for his contribution to the show as guest host. “Congrats. And Ken as best host!!!!” one person wrote on Instagram. “Bravo!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏,” another added. “Congratulations, Jeopardy! I hope you win in all three categories,” a different fan said on Twitter.

For those wondering why Ken wasn’t nominated for Outstanding Game Show Host at the 2022 Daytime Emmys, it might be because he’s not considered an official Jeopardy! host like Mayim Bialik. That said, Ken is part of the Jeopardy! staff as a consulting producer. His responsibilities include reaching out to potential contestants, consulting on clue writing and being an ambassador for the show. He will share the Outstanding Game Show award if Jeopardy! takes home the win like last year.

Folks can tune in to CBS to watch the 2022 Daytime Emmy winners be announced on Saturday, June 24 at 9 p.m. ET. The special event will also be live-streamed on Paramount+. Until then, many will undoubtedly continue to be captivated by Mattea getting closer to breaking historic records, some set by Ken himself.
