Sterling K. Brown is making a case for Mandy Moore and her emotional performance on season 6 of This Is Us — and Mandy greatly appreciates it.

On April 20, the actor opened up on his Instagram about the NBC drama coming to an end. In a nearly seven-minute video, he revealed that the This Is Us cast was in the midst of filming the final scenes of the series. Sterling also shared that he had just finished watching the latest season 6 episode and had many thoughts about Mandy’s portrayal of Rebecca. As fans know, the actress's longtime character has been battling Alzheimer's disease in the show.

After seeing Rebecca take the stage and sing the original song “Forever Now” on This Is Us last Tuesday night, Sterling felt there was only one thing left to do — give Mandy an Emmy. He asked “anybody who votes in the [Television] Academy” to make her a winner at the 2022 Emmy Awards. "Mandy Moore is killing the game, son,” he said in the Instagram clip. “She is killing the game, and she deserves to be recognized.”

He continued: “Man, that woman. Y'all know Mandy Moore is eight years younger than me and she plays my mama. There's never a moment on set where I'm like, 'Mandy Moore's too young to play my mama.' No, she is my mama. And the beautifully subtle nuanced work and the portrayal of someone going through what her character's going through, it's just exquisite, man."

Reacting to Sterling’s passionate message about her, Mandy was touched and shared a few of her own words about Sterling. “I love you so much, SKB,” she wrote in the comments section. “You’re too kind. Thank you for your exquisite work, which only raises the game of everyone who works with you. But I concur- our collective group is unstoppable!!”

Unsurprisingly, This Is Us fans instantly agreed with Sterling’s plea. “Yes, @mandymooremm is indeed, killing it! Overdue for an Emmy! She’s so good!” one person wrote. “Couldn’t agree with you more on Mandy Moore’s performance. Wow,” another added. “Mandy Moore has been killing it since season 1 and deserves all the awards,” a different fan said.

Others also took the opportunity to let the actor know how much they love his work too. “You were phenomenal on this show too. Every episode made me cry. Well done by everyone! You all have a gift bringing us what the writers imagined. 🙌,” a follower commented. “This season is a masterpiece. I am going to miss the Pearsons terribly, but bravo to all of you. You should be very proud of what you all have accomplished,” someone else wrote.

When This Is Us season 6 concludes this May, Mandy will have played the Pearson matriarch for more than five years. During this time, her portrayal of Rebecca has earned her one Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2019, which went to Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer. Before that, Mandy received a nod at the 2017 Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress (Olivia Colman won for her work in The Night Manager). She and the rest of the This Is Us cast later won at the 2019 SAG Awards. It was their second nomination as an ensemble.

Who knows, maybe Sterling’s words might reach the right people, and Mandy will get up on stage to grab her Emmy on September 12. Let's hope!
