Good Morning America star Michael Strahan loves a friendly competition.
On April 17, the former NFL star posted a handful of photos and a video of himself playing the popular card game Phase 10 with his mom, Louise. Where some sons may have let their mother win on purpose, the ABC coanchor brought his A-game, accompanied by a slew of hilarious banter that Louise couldn’t help but laugh at.
"Okay… a game of mom vs son… how do you all think it ended????" Michael captioned a still pic from their intense match. "Well, if you guessed, I whooped my momma. You were right!!! I made her parched LOL… no idea where I come up with my trash talking sayings," he wrote alongside a follow-up video of their game.
In the minute-long clip, Michael and Louise sit at what appears to be a dining table with a deck of cards in between them. “Touch a clown, it’s going down,” he says while tapping her on the shoulder. “Come on, give it to me sister … You takin’ a long time now. What’s goin’ on? You gettin’ nervous?”
After his mom put down her card, he immediately followed with a card of his own before jumping up. “Doggone it, doggone it,” he said celebrating. But his festivities didn't end there. After seeing her reach for a bottle of water, he thought about another lighthearted joke.
“I tell ya, I ain’t come here to play," he said. "Yeah, take a sip of your water sister because you’re gonna need it, I’m gonna make you parched.”
Seeing Michael have some fun with Louise, fans immediately rushed to the comments section to share their two cents about his sportsmanship. By the sounds of it, many thought he could have gone easier on her but it was definitely laughs all around.
“You wrong for this!!!! 😂😂😂😂,” America's Got Talent host Terry Crews wrote. "You wrong you should let Momma win ❤️❤️❤️❤️😂😂😂😂,” a fan wrote. “Not parched!! ( You know You're supposed to let her Win!) 😆🤣😆🤣😂,” another added. “You may of won the game but she won in the end. She got quality time with her baby ❤️❤️❤️,” a follower commented.
As much as folks think Michael should have let his mom win, as a former football player, competition is part of his make-up. Thankfully, it looks like she enjoyed his silliness.
