As a whole, consumers have come to expect quick shipping (thank you, Amazon!), but some items — including many of the best mattresses — are made-to-order items that require a little more patience. Thankfully there's some good news for those of you who need a new mattress, stat: A handful of our tried-and-true favorites can be delivered faster than most — typically within a few days, though some as soon as the next day.

And since there's no time like the new year to prioritize your sleep, we've rounded up the best mattresses with the fastest shipping. There's something here for every type of sleeper, whether you're a side-sleeper who needs pressure relief, a stomach-sleeper who needs a firmer option or you simply want to upgrade to an organic mattress. Each one will arrive on your doorstep well before New Year's Eve. And, if you hurry, you can even score your top pick before Christmas.

Best Overall

Tuft & Needle T&N Original Mattress

T&N Original Mattress

Pros

  • Supportive foam with motion isolation
  • Low cost compared to similar brands
  • Fast and free shipping with Amazon Prime membership

Cons

  • Lacks edge support

Though this top-rated foam mattress costs less than other popular models, it rivals the competition — especially if you don't love the super cushy feel of some other foam mattresses. It has a slightly firmer feel that one reviewer who has been sleeping on this mattress for five years told us was "more comfortable than any mattress I've ever had in the past." Our reviewers also gave this mattress great scores for motion isolation and said they didn't feel movement from sleeping partners. On the downside, many said it lacks adequate edge support, which means it may sag when you sit on the sides.

Importantly for anyone in a rush, this mattress is also almost always in stock on Amazon and arrives within days if you have a Prime membership. Our reviewers said everything from the ordering process to setup was seamless.

Best Value

Linenspa 8-Inch Hybrid Mattress

 8-Inch Hybrid Mattress

Pros

  • Simple ordering, delivery and setup process
  • Users gave it high marks for being comfortable from night one

Cons

  • Thinner than other mattresses

We think this mattress is a great deal, especially given how highly rated it was by our consumer survey panel. It does have a low 8-inch profile, so be mindful of that if you like a taller, more substantial bed, but overall there were no major complaints about the thinness. You can also upgrade to the 10-inch mattress or a 12-inch mattress — both still under $350 for a Queen.

Shipping is fast and free with Amazon Prime, and dozens of users told us this mattress was incredibly easy to order and set up and was comfortable from day one. The consensus was unanimous: It's well worth the price. "You won't find a better mattress for the price," said one tester. "The company is awesome, the mattress arrived two days after I ordered and was in perfect condition! Setting it up took less than five minutes."

Best Boxed

Casper Original Mattress

Original Mattress

Pros

  • Zoned layout for ergonomic alignment
  • Light and easy to set up
  • Good motion isolation, according to reviewers

Cons

  • Only one firmness level available

Casper is our top boxed mattress pick, because it garnered high scores for comfort and ergonomic layout. This specific model has been discontinued, but Amazon still has it in stock, so you can get it conveniently delivered via Amazon Prime.

While the brand offers a variety of mattresses to choose from, we like this one's combination of quality and value. It features zoned layers made to help with spinal alignment, which is something other all-foam models we tested didn't have. And because the inside is entirely foam, it's lighter and easier to set up than boxed hybrids that contain metal coils.

Over 100 survey panelists told us they love their Casper mattress, complimenting every aspect from price, to ease of buying, to overall support and comfort. Even though it only comes in one firmness level, "it conforms to your body," said one user. "It is hard to describe but it is just so comfy. [It's the] right mix of cushy and supportive," said another. Reviewers praised its motion isolation too, noting they didn't feel their partners moving throughout the night.

Best Hybrid

Serta Perfect Sleeper Hybrid Mattress

Perfect Sleeper Hybrid Mattress

Pros

  • High praise for comfort and support from testers
  • Great price for a hybrid
  • Isn't delivered in a box

Cons

  • Some long-term Serta owners said the mattress felt less comfortable over time

Serta's Perfect Sleeper is one of the most widely searched for mattresses and one of the most commonly purchased models among our panel of consumer testers. And while the line has a variety of options, we are especially drawn to this hybrid version for its comfort, support and affordability. During our last survey, well over 1,000 Serta mattress owners gave this model high marks for support. Some even said it helped relieve chronic back pain. On the downside, some long-term owners said the mattress hasn't held up as well as they hoped.

What's different about this fast-shipping mattress is that, thanks to Mattress Firm, it arrives via a delivery service rather than getting compressed into a box. Depending on your location, you may even be eligible for next-day delivery.

Best for Side Sleepers

Novilla Bliss Gel Memory Foam Mattress

Bliss Gel Memory Foam Mattress

Pros

  • Impressive motion isolation
  • High comfort ratings

Cons

  • Some users said it doesn't expand to its full height

During our evaluations, we found some cheaper mattress models were too firm for side sleepers, but this model is designed with memory foam materials that relieve pressure around the shoulders and hips for better spinal alignment. The all-foam mattress is designed with four layers of foam, including a base layer of high-density foam for stability, two layers of foam for pressure relief and a top layer of gel-infused memory foam for even more pressure relief and cushion.

Testers said the bed was neither too firm nor too soft. They also gave high marks for motion isolation, noting they could sleep soundly without being disturbed by partners or pets. On the downside, some users said that even though the bed has a 12-inch profile, the mattress never fully expanded to its advertised height. Still, the majority found it to be a comfortable option at a great price point.

6
Best Organic Latex

Happsy Organic Mattress

Organic Mattress

Pros

  • Eco alternative for the bed-in-a-box trend
  • Contouring feel

Cons

  • Less edge support than other models

This model stands out because it's certified by the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), so you know the entire manufacturing process follows strict guidelines on the materials used. It has organic cotton filling with pocketed springs to limit motion transfer and increase breathability, as well as organic latex to contour the body and organic wool for temperature regulation and softness encased in a soft organic cotton fabric.

Consumer panelists gave it glowing reviews, explaining that the foam-like feel conforms to the shape of your body. "I love the way I feel hugged by this mattress without feeling like I’m sinking into it," said one tester. "After several years, I don’t find it to be sagging or less comfortable." Another said: "The plush, contouring, pressure-relieving feel was really comfortable, especially with the topper. It felt really good for side sleeping."

Although the Happsy's edge support isn't great in comparison to other latex hybrids, it is better than the other all-foam models on the list. And, because it's available on Amazon as a compressed mattress in a box, it ships within days with a Prime membership and assembly is a breeze.

How we test mattresses

line break

At the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab, we test a wide variety of mattresses, including mattresses with the fastest shipping. During this process, we review product information about materials, special features and specific claims and vet brands to ensure they're trustworthy.

Then, we evaluate the mattresses in person and share samples with consumer testers for IRL sleep testing. Our consumer testers provide initial feedback on the bed, as well as their thoughts after sleeping on the mattress for several weeks. We later tap testers for their thoughts several months or even years later, so that we understand how the mattresses perform with repeated use.

We also reach out to our Good Housekeeping survey panelists for feedback on the mattresses they own and sleep on. In recent years, we've surveyed more than 10,000 mattress owners and poured through more than 170,000 answers related to ordering and delivery, setup, firmness level, comfort and support, temperature regulation, edge support and more.
