Who doesn't enjoy cozying up on the couch, turning on their go-to comfort show and lighting their favorite candle? That's my relaxation routine at least two to three times a week. As a result, I often find myself burning through candles (and TV shows) fairly quickly.

While scrolling on social media, I came across the most gigantic candles I had ever seen, ones I probably wouldn't burn through for at least several months, if not a full year. And while they do seem a bit ridiculous (some of them are the size of a small trash can!), I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little intrigued.

Costco has had many products go viral — just take their backyard entertainment shed or secret vanity, for example. However, I've never seen one Costco product cause so much controversy online.

One Reddit user even started a thread dedicated to what they call "trash can candles," asking why anyone would ever buy such a ginormous candle. But there were plenty of defenders.

"Sigh puts on shoes," wrote one user.

Another joked, "My boyfriend loves candles. He would absolutely buy this ridiculous candle."

Others expressed their confusion: "Why would you need a giant candle," one TikTok user asked. Another bluntly stated, "No, thank you."

There are a few different Costco-sized candles floating around the internet. The 135-ounce Mayfair candle featured in the above TikTok is $60 (the burn time is more than 200 hours), while the one referenced on Reddit is 90 ounces for $100. Considering the price of much smaller ones — 12-ounce candles often go for around $25 — the Costco version does present a pretty good deal for true candle enthusiasts.

The giant Mayfair candle is currently available on Costco's site in four scents: grapefruit sandalwood, linen breeze, midnight musk and ocean vetiver. You can also try searching for them in store. And if you don't have a Costco membership and you happen to be on the pro-giant candle side of the debate (I promise I won't judge), there are plenty of other extra-large candles available online.
