Sometimes the best Mother's Day gift is just knowing you’re not in it alone. Moms deal with a lot, from diaper blowouts to surly teenage tantrums, and in the midst of all the chaos, it’s easy for parents to feel like they’re the only ones treading water with dirty hair and day-old clothes. This can be exacerbated by Pinterest and Instagram, where families always look scrubbed-up and houses are always clean.

These hilarious mom memes are a reminder that, as the saying goes, the struggle is real — but at least we’re in good company. Here, parents tell the truth: We’re all on day three of using dry shampoo instead of showering. Our kids have to hear things 10,000 times before they’ll listen, and if we turn our backs on them for a moment they’ll find ways of getting into mischief. Everything — everything! — is sticky, and sometimes there’s just no telling why. And if we had a choice, we wouldn’t trade any of it for anything. (Well, maybe we’d take a pass on the stickiness.) When you get to the end of the day, there’s nothing you can do but laugh about it. And if you want more laughs, check out these all-too-real parenting fails.
