‘Trolls Band Together’ Gifts Young Fans Will Want
The beloved creatures are back in perfect harmony this holiday season.
Trolls movies, shows and characters are so popular with children today that it’s hard to believe these creatures, with their famously outrageous, far-reaching, colorful hair, were first introduced to the world more than 60 years ago. For modern fans, Branch, Poppy and the rest of the gang are best known from their highly regarded 2016 movie Trolls and its 2020 sequel, Trolls World Tour, as well as the numerous animated TV series and movies that have popped up along the way.
This November, we’re getting a Trolls holiday special on NBC, and also the franchise’s third theatrical release in the form of Trolls Band Together, which has already built up hype amongst the older generations after a certain beloved ’90s boy band (whose most famous member also happens to provide the voice of Branch in all three movies) reunited and released its first new song in roughly 20 years, written and recorded especially for the movie.
Most important, though, it’s a new Trolls movie — and that’s enough to get almost any kid excited; if you’ve got little ones of a certain age in your life, you probably know the myriad toy options by heart. Since the holidays are creeping up on us, we’re helping out with a primer on all the tie-in Trolls items on the shelves at Walmart. Grab one for every fan on your list to enjoy as the fervor for Trolls Band Together inevitably builds to an uproarious ovation.
In the first Trolls movie, Poppy was still a princess, but by the end she had earned the title “Queen of the Trolls.” No collection would be complete without her. This small doll comes with posable arms and legs and charming removable outfits.
Another must-have: Branch. Queen Poppy’s boyfriend turns out to have a secret past: He once was part of Poppy’s favorite boy band, BroZone, with his four brothers. What happened since their mysterious breakup, when Branch was little, is a major plot point of the new movie.
Viva is the newest Troll, making her debut appearance in Trolls Band Together. If you’re thinking she looks a lot like Queen Poppy, you'd be right: She’s Poppy’s older sister, and she’s sure to be a fan favorite.
The Hair Pops dolls (which also include Branch and Viva — see below) come with inserts that add a burst of color to each troll’s hair. When the inserts are popped out, the bases are containers that hold surprise accessories inspired by the movie. The dolls can be customized with the extra colors and add-ons to make several unique versions.
While Poppy and Branch are chasing boy bands, Viva is ready to rock the links. Add a highlight of blue to her plush yellow hair and she’ll be ready to take anyone on.
Branch’s ride is a whole lot more than just a standard automobile. It comes with flower-shaped discs that slide into a launcher on the back of the car, which propels them through the air. When not in use, the pieces pop onto the wheels like colorful hubcaps, ensuring that they’re always close at hand.
This pack comes with a Poppy, a Branch and a Guy Diamond figure. All, of course, have the iconic hair you expect from Trolls — but each also has a unique accessory. Poppy comes with a spinning hoverboard, Branch has a sparkly motorcycle with spinning flowers on the back and Guy Diamond rides an ice-blue skateboard.
