Yes, we all know a healthy breakfast is super-important – but that doesn’t mean you should underestimate the value of lunch. “Lunch doesn’t get enough credit,” says Sue-Ellen Anderson-Haynes, RD, spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and owner of 360Girlsand Women. “When you digest your breakfast, your energy starts to wane. Eating lunch will help power you through the rest of the afternoon hours, increasing your alertness and productivity.”

That's why the most successful people we know generally stop to eat a midday meal. And sure, sometimes they go for a healthy balance of fats, protein and fiber, but other times? Not so much.

Taylor Swift: Sandwiches and Sushi

When your body is your career, you learn to take care of it. During off days of her recent Eras tour, megastar Taylor Swift goes back to basics. “I do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there,” she said in an interview with Time. Swift's regular meal picks include light fare like salads and sandwiches. She and boyfriend Travis Kelce also love seafood: They were spied enjoying lobster rolls and sushi on a lunch date at luxury restaurant Nobu in Malibu, California last March.

Stella McCartney: Veggie Sandwich

This iconic fashion designer and entrepreneur is a committed vegetarian, having been raised to respect animal rights and value sustainability by her rock star parents, Paul and Linda McCartney. Stella’s family food traditions include a veggie concoction called “the McCartney sandwich,” which she, her dad and her sister Mary discussed in a video interview. The sandwich is a combo of Marmite spread, hummus, lettuce, cheese, tomato, pickle and honey mustard on a bagel.

While launching Facebook, Meta mogul Zuckerberg ate a lot of fast food. Today, he eats a balanced diet that emphasizes lean protein, fruits, veggies, grains and healthy fats. His typical lunch: grilled chicken with cherry tomatoes, mixed greens, quinoa, and light vinaigrette, or a brown rice stir-fry with tofu, bell peppers, snap peas and broccoli.

Greta Thunberg: Salads and Falafel

The 22-year-old Swedish climate activist stays true to her beliefs by forgoing all animal products to benefit the environment. She says she's been vegan since she was 10 years old, and her typical lunch reportedly includes salads, noodles, and falafel.

President Obama visited scores of burger joints while he was in office, according to Time. His lunch order at Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Washington, DC was a cheeseburger with jalapeños, tomatoes, and mustard, plus fries. On other occasions, his cheesy choices included a medium-well burger, with mustard, lettuce, and tomato, and a cheddar burger with sweet pickles and sauteed onions. He kept his slim figure by balancing out burgers with his favorite food, broccoli.

The founder of the wildly popular makeup brand Glossier has varied tastes when it comes to lunch. She posted that she's obsessed with a vegan chickpea soup, but also told Grub Street she eats whatever interests her when she's on the go—which is often! This includes lobster, sushi, bagels and French fries.

The future King of England actually prefers not to eat lunch on days when he’s working, according to the New York Post. Reportedly, William doesn’t like to be weighed down by a full meal while he’s on the go, so he fuels up first at breakfast, having two eggs, buttered toast, apple juice and tea with milk and sugar.

However, William has broken his no-lunch rule on occasion. Recently, he said he’d been brought a “rubbish sandwich,” which he ate with a chocolate brownie and washed down with a glass of red wine. What’s a rubbish sandwich? Apparently it’s a pre-packaged specimen you get at the airport in the UK when you’re desperate. We’ve all been there, William.

According to Tasty, Biles replenishes her energy after a morning workout with a lunch of salmon and a selection of veggies, including green beans, broccoli, corn and peas. Selena is also known as a big Taco Bell fan – she says that fiancé Benny Blanco never fails to bring her the chain’s Mexican Pizza when she craves it.

On a recent multi-state trip bringing her kids Apple and Moses and stepson Brody to college, Paltrow posted on Instagram that she had “the best lunch of my life,” according to Town & Country.
