Vanilla Ice Cream
Use an ice cream maker to whip up dessert ahead of time.

Make a classic—and delicious—homemade vanilla ice cream then get creative with your mix-ins. Biscoff with lime zest, anyone?
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups
whole milk
- 3/4 cup
sugar
- 1/4 tsp.
kosher salt
- 2 cups
heavy cream
- 2 tsp.
vanilla paste
Desired mix-ins (see below)
Directions
- Step 1Prepare ice cream maker per manufacturer directions. In large heat-resistant measuring cup, whisk together milk, sugar, and salt until sugar is dissolved. Whisk in heavy cream and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour, up to overnight.
- Step 2When ready to churn, add ice cream base to ice cream maker and churn per manufacturer directions until the consistency of soft serve, about 25 minutes.
- Step 3For harder consistency, transfer ice cream to airtight container and freeze at least 4 hours. Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving.
Magical Mix-ins
Smoked Almonds + Dark Chocolate
Chop 1/3 cup smoked almonds and 2 ounces dark chocolate and add to ice cream maker during last 4 minutes of churning.
Lime Zest + Biscoff
Add 2 tablespoons lime zest to ice cream maker during last 4 minutes of churning. Transfer ice cream to freezer-safe container in spoonfuls, layering with 12 Biscoff cookies (broken into small pieces).
