Cooling and ultra-flavorful, Raita is the ideal contrasting condiment for any spicy main. Full of crisp cucumber, spices and plenty of herbs, this yogurt dip elevates any dish it's paired with. Best of all? It makes a healthy side dish or easy appetizer that's ready in under 10 minutes, so you can be snacking, dipping or topping in no time!
Raita is an Indian side dish that's made to complement the cuisine's spicier courses. You'll find this classic condiment among zesty entrees and flavorful sides, as the creamy yogurt and cucumber cools and balances the palate. Recipes vary for the staple side, making it completely customizable! Add hot chiles to give a spicy kick, or amp up the vegetables to make this irresistible condiment into a more substantial side perfect for dipping. We recommend using whole milk yogurt in this recipe for a rich, creamy, not-too-thick base for your crunchy cucumber and warming spices.
Whether you're looking for a refreshing condiment to pair with your easy dinner recipe, a dip recipe to feed a crowd, or just that extra something to elevate your meal, look no further than delicious, herby Raita. Pro tip: Before serving, let your savory dip sit in the fridge for a few minutes to really let all of the flavors mix and meld together. Top with extra herbs and spices, set out some warm flatbread and get ready to dig in!
