Come Easter Sunday, there are plenty of desserts you can choose from to adorn your dessert table. From cakes and cupcakes to elaborately decorated Easter sugar cookies, there are so many ways to get your sugar fix this holiday. We love these Easter egg cookies for their simple, elegant, and easy decoration. While the steps are super easy, these Easter sugar cookies make for the ultimate centerpiece for any spring party.

How do you decorate Easter sugar cookies?

Sugar cookies are our favorite canvas for any Easter decoration. There are plenty of festive cutters out there to choose from (bring on the bunnies if you’re looking for a downright cute cookie recipe!), but for an elegant sweet treat, we opted for an egg-shaped cutter.

Once baked, be sure to let your cookies cool completely before decorating (this will help you to avoid any melty icing dripping off the top of the batch). We flooded the cookies with pastel-dyed royal icing by first piping an outline around the edge of the cookie and then filling in with more icing. Then we topped each cookie with a variety of sprinkles before the frosting set completely. The beauty of this simple design is that you can pick any colors that fit into your Easter theme. From pastel hues like ours to super vibrant colors, the cookies will look beautiful no matter what! Be sure to bake a few batches because these Easter Egg-inspired sweets are going to be devoured.
