What is Gobble?
Gobble is an online meal delivery service, similar to Hello Fresh or Green Chef, but it stands out with its unique focus on convenience. Designed for those with busy lifestyles, Gobble streamlines dinner prep by delivering pre-portioned, freshly prepped ingredients that can be transformed into home-cooked meals in just 15 minutes, according to the company.
Each week, subscribers can choose from a rotating menu of over 10 options, divided into fixed categories like “Classic Dinner,” “Lean & Clean” and “Vegetarian,” offering a variety of dishes to suit different tastes and dietary preferences. Beyond the main meals, Gobble also provides a range of add-ons, including salads, soups, desserts and breakfast items, allowing users to round out their weekly meals. What truly sets Gobble apart is its ability to deliver quick, hassle-free meals without compromising on quality, flavor or nutrition, making it a standout option in the crowded meal delivery market.
How do Gobble meals work?
Here’s how Gobble works: Start by visiting their website and signing up for an account. Once you’re set up, you can browse their delivery calendar to view detailed nutrition information, such as calorie counts and protein levels, for each meal option. Every week, you have the flexibility to choose from over 10 different meal options, along with add-ons mentioned above.
You can select your meals manually or opt for automatic meal selections based on your preferences. You have the option to skip or cancel deliveries if needed. Each meal comes with pre-portioned ingredients and recipe cards, so you can prepare dinner quickly. Gobble caters to plans for two or four people, and there’s no restriction on the number of meals you can order.
Your meals arrive in a chilled box straight to your door, making it ideal for busy weeknights or easy dinner parties. Plus, you can take advantage of their “Prepared & Ready” 5-minute meals, which are perfect for when you want zero prep and zero mess. These meals come fully prepared, requiring no chopping or cooking, and are ready to eat with no cleanup involved.
What does Gobble cost?
Gobble offers two meal plans: the "2-Person Plan" and the "4-Person Plan." Prices range from as little as $68 to $240 per week, depending on the number of meals, which can vary from 2 to 5 nights. The more meals you choose, the higher the cost. Both plans offer a variety of menu options, with the choice of two or four servings per meal. You can also add extras like sides, soups, and desserts. New customers get free shipping on their first order, with a $9.99 fee for future deliveries. Check availability and pricing on Gobble’s website.
Our experience testing Gobble
Ordering and meal selection
Signing up on the Gobble website was a breeze, though choosing which recipes to try was the toughest part! The site offers a peek at weekly menus and even lets you look ahead to future weeks. During our evaluation, we noticed that Gobble offers a limited menu, with only 10 recipes per week—quite small compared to other services. Each meal listing includes details about allergens, spice levels, family-friendliness and customizable options with swap ideas for ingredients and proteins.
Gobble’s process is straightforward: first, pick your meals from their Classic or Lean & Clean menus, which include options for low carb, dairy-free and veggie-friendly diets. The second step involves Gobble's team of chefs preparing fresh ingredients — no peeling, measuring or washing up required. Meals can be customized to be dairy-free, nut-free or wheat-free by omitting specific ingredients, which are packed separately in the kit.
Experts in the Nutrition Lab noted that while Gobble offers limited special diet accommodations, they do provide comprehensive nutrition information for each meal on their website and within the kit itself. Meals are priced at a flat rate per serving, and you can explore a rotating selection of gourmet sides, soups, salads and desserts to elevate your weekly box. The site is mobile-friendly, so managing your orders on your phone or tablet is easy. You can also view auto-generated dinner kits based on your taste preferences or explore the full menu. Adding or removing meals is simple, and you have the flexibility to cancel or skip deliveries at any time.
The menu changes frequently, so there's always something new to try or stock up on your favorites. For my delivery, I chose Butter Chicken with Vegetable Biryani and Naan, Blackened Salmon with Fingerling Potatoes, Broccoli and Creamy Lemon Pistachio Sauce, and Roasted Garlic Ravioli with Blue Cheese Cream Sauce and Heirloom Tomato Salad. The final step was selecting my delivery date and eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Gobble box!
Unboxing and condition of food on arrival
When my Gobble box arrived, I was immediately impressed with the packaging. Everything was neatly organized, and the ingredients were cool to the touch, staying fresh thanks to the insulated packaging. The meals came in individual paper bags with easy-to-follow recipe cards, and all ingredients were clearly labeled. It was all very convenient — though I did notice a lot of plastic packaging. Fortunately, most of it is recyclable, and Gobble suggests you can drop off the plastic bags at a grocery retailer or local recycling center for proper recycling.
One tester noted, “The recipes are super easy to follow, and I appreciated the images on the recipe cards — they helped me feel confident about what I was making.” I have pretty high standards when it comes to raw meat and fish, but I was pleasantly surprised. Everything looked fresh and had no odd smells. The proteins, mostly sous-vide, were high-quality and up to par with my expectations. As for the produce, it arrived in great condition, and all the vegetables, condiments and herbs were intact and cool to the touch.
Recipes and nutrition
The recipes I tried used a minimal number of ingredients, providing a balanced mix of protein, fats and carbohydrates — exactly what I look for as a Registered Dietitian. They not only made for enjoyable dinners but also provided leftovers for the next day. I appreciated that each recipe card included detailed nutrition facts, a breakdown of the supplies needed and a fun description of each recipe. This was particularly helpful because I could keep the recipe cards and easily remake them in the future.
Here are the recipes I tried:
- Butter Chicken with Vegetable Biryani and Naan
- Blackened Salmon with Fingerling Potatoes, Broccoli and Creamy Lemon Pistachio Sauce
- Roasted Garlic Ravioli with Blue Cheese Cream Sauce and Heirloom Tomato Salad
I also sampled the Brie En Croute and chocolate chip cookies, both of which were delicious and great for sharing. Additionally, Gobble offers a diverse range of other options like vegetable samosas, tomato bisque, breakfast quiches and crepes.
Each meal ranged between 600 to 850 calories, offering a good balance of protein, carbohydrates, fiber and fats. One standout feature was the “Chef’s Tip” for the Butter Chicken with Vegetable Biryani, which suggested reheating the naan bread in the toaster oven instead of a full-sized oven, saving time and energy — an incredibly helpful tip for busy weeknights.
The recipes themselves required minimal prep, with most tasks involving quick chopping vegetables like cauliflower or tomatoes. I particularly loved the “Did You Know” section on the recipe card, where interesting culinary facts were shared. For example, on the Butter Chicken card, they explained what Biryani is: "Biryani is an Indian rice dish of vegetables and meat simmered in the rice with a medley of spices." This was a nice touch, as it deepened my appreciation of the dish and the flavors I was experiencing.
Gobble also encourages customers to get social by tagging their cooking process with the hashtag #gobbletime, which I thought was a clever way to connect with other Gobble fans and the online community. As someone who loves sharing my culinary adventures, I took them up on it. Allergens are clearly labeled on each recipe card, which I found incredibly useful, especially since I have to be cautious due to personal allergies. This feature made me feel safe and informed as I prepared each meal.
Overall, the recipes were pretty quick, with minimal effort and prep work. Gobble loves to emphasize that their meals can be made in 15 minutes, but experts in the Nutrition Lab noted that not everything is exactly 15 minutes — most are around that mark, though. It's just something to keep in mind when you're planning your weeknights!
Taste
As an adventurous cook, I found myself adding a personal touch to the Blackened Salmon recipe. I added a drizzle of honey-lime glaze for a sweet, tangy contrast to the bold flavors. The convenience of pre-cooked, sous-vide-style potatoes made the cooking process much quicker by cutting down on wait time.
Each dish featured a good amount of vegetables, adding vibrant color and freshness. The Butter Chicken stood out as my favorite; its vibrant flavor, mild spice level and delicious biryani spice and butter sauce made it a standout. The naan bread tied it all together, making this recipe one I’ll definitely revisit.
The Roasted Garlic Ravioli came with a Heirloom Tomato salad, which was a nice fresh touch, though the tomatoes were a bit bland and under-ripe, affecting the overall satisfaction. The addition of walnuts was a great way to add crunch and healthy fats. I appreciated that the recipes were less salty compared to other meal delivery services.
One tester noted, “Whatever I made ended up looking just like the picture. After a long day at work, it was a relief to have dinner ready in under 30 minutes.” The pre-prepped ingredients were a huge time-saver, with one tester commenting, “This might be the quickest meal delivery service out there.” I agree — these meals are pretty fast and convenient.
Overall, experts in the Nutrition Lab found the meals palatable but noted they lacked the flavor complexity of other services. As one expert put it, "The meals were tasty but not extraordinary — good, but not knock-your-socks-off." Despite this, the meals were still satisfying and offered a solid dining experience.
Who should order Gobble?
Gobble is ideal for anyone on a tight schedule, especially busy families and individuals who want to minimize time spent in the kitchen. It’s perfect for those who need quick, convenient meal solutions, as most ingredients are pre-cooked or require minimal prep. Meals can be prepared in under 20 minutes. While Gobble allows for some customization, it may not fully accommodate specialized diets for medical conditions. If you have specific dietary requirements, this service may not be the best fit for you. Nonetheless, it provides high-quality, freshly prepped ingredients with no need for measuring, marinating or peeling.
Is Gobble worth it?
From my experience, Gobble is worth considering if you’re short on time but still want a variety of tasty meals. It’s ideal for busy people who prefer quick, easy cooking. Most ingredients are either pre-cooked or require minimal effort, so meals can be ready in under 20 minutes.
The service offers a range of options, including meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, with fresh, quality ingredients that don’t need extra prep. Although it may not cater to all specialized diets, the flexibility to cancel or skip deliveries without any long-term commitment is a big advantage. Overall, Gobble delivers convenience and variety for those on the go.
