Tying shoelaces can range from being a minor inconvenience when you're rushing out the door or getting through airport security to a frustrating setback for those who may have trouble bending over or have dexterity issues with their fingers. Thankfully these days, you don't have to sacrifice style for the convenience of saving an extra step: We found that some of the best slip-on shoes for women are not only trendy and colorful, but are some of the most comfortable shoes for walking.
The experts in the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles, Paper and Apparel Lab considered the best flats, sneakers, clogs, loafers, slippers and boots that we have tested over the years to find the best slip-on shoes for women. In our most recent sneaker test, we evaluated over 50 sneakers, including multiple slip-on styles that we loved (some of which made this roundup).

Who they're best for: Pretty much everyone. An all-around no-fuss pick, these sneakers are an excellent choice for everyday use, traveling, walking and more.
Why we love them: Cushioned and lightweight, these slip-on sneakers are comfortable to walk around in, thanks to the flexible built-in thermoplastic cage within the heel that compresses and bounces back after your feet slides into the shoe — in all of our years of sneaker testing, we have never seen a feature like this cage from another brand. A few testers noted that these sneakers aren't as supportive as other options, so they may not be the best pair for running.
We love the classic, sporty appearance of these sneakers that come in simple neutrals, but you can also opt for bolder colors and patterns on Kizik's website. The upper knit material is breathable for particularly hot days or sweaty runs and the removable insoles are washable, which helps keep these sneakers smelling clean and fresh. And since they're lightweight, these slip-on shoes are travel-friendly. Slip them on and off at the airport during TSA check-in or throw them in your luggage.
Tester notes: One tester with Parkinson's shared that Kizik sneakers are easier for him to get on than any of his other shoes. "You really can just jump into them," shared another tester. Another told us, "It's very convenient for when I realize I only have a minute to run to the school and pick up my daughter." Testers also reported that the shoes fit them well, are comfortable for long walks and feel "like walking on clouds."

Who they're best for: Those on a budget, plus anyone who's on their feet for long hours including nurses, teachers and medical professionals
Why we love them: With over 70,000 five-star reviews on Amazon, these slip-on sneakers come at a wallet-friendly price without skimping on quality. Lightweight and responsive, the cushioning makes these sneakers comfortable to walk around in. Plus, the breathable insole is ideal for summer days and if the shoes get dirty, sweaty or stinky, you can throw them in the washing machine. While the design isn't the most stylish, we love the 24 color options and, in particular, I'm a fan of the all-white style for summer.

Who they're best for: Gym goers looking for a lightweight shoe that's easy to slip on and off in between workouts
Why we love them: These shoes aren't as cushioning as a pair of HOKAs, so I wouldn't recommend them for a long run. However, they have a lightweight, supportive design and a flexible sole that is suitable for HIIT workouts, cardio, walking and light jogs. The lightweight design is ideal for traveling (just throw them in a gym bag or backpack!).
Our testers wore these sneakers for walks, workouts and daily usage, and while some weren't too impressed with the cushioning, most gave them high marks for comfort, support and traction. Several noted they were easy to step into, light in weight, not bulky and ideal for all-day wear. Multiple testers also reported that the sneakers run a bit narrow, so those with wide feet or bunions may not enjoy these shoes. Although, style-wise, this pair wasn't every tester's cup of tea, there are 38 colors to choose from, so you can opt for a bright color for a fun gym outfit or a neutral for every day.
Tester notes: "I appreciated how easy it was to slip these shoes on. It made getting to the door a breeze. The shoes are impressively lightweight and I thought they wouldn't offer enough support, but they were surprisingly comfortable! On walks, my arches felt supported and I didn't notice any foot pain or pinching. They were great to wear at the gym because it was easy to go from the treadmill to other workouts. Why we love them: Classic and iconic, the Vans Slip-On sneakers were popular among my friends throughout school and they're still a solid option for a casual sneaker. The side elastic on these shoes makes it easy to slip them on and off. Whether you're a college student going to a party or you need a cute, slip-on sneaker for everyday use, these sneakers are comfortable to walk in and budget-friendly.
There are tons of color options and checkered patterns and the extensive size range is ideal for those with very small or large feet. When the sneakers begin to look dirty, clean the rubber section with a Magic Eraser to keep them looking fresh.

Tester notes: "These checkered slip-on sneakers from Vans were my go-to shoe all throughout college (and then some)...I found these shoes easy to slip on and off (especially when running off to class), thanks to a side elastic detail. Who they're best for: HOKA fans looking for an easy-to-slip-on shoe quickly before a walk or hike
Why we love them: Walking shoes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes — and these slip-on sneakers are a unique pair among HOKA's collection of shoes. The HOKA Transport offers a cushioned midsole for ample support, an adjustable cord to tighten the sneakers, a tab on top of the tongue to tuck the cord in and 360-degree reflectivity for those who tend to walk in the dark.
While our testers wore these sneakers walking and lifting weights, Updates Editor Elizabeth Berry said she would even wear these sneakers hiking due to the thick, grippy outer sole. I personally always go up by a half size for any HOKA sneakers, but Berry reported that the shoes fit true to size albeit ran a bit narrow. Luckily, the shoe comes in regular and wide sizes for those who may need a roomier shoe. One tester did say a bunion on her foot ached after wearing these, so they may not be the best shoes for bunions.

New Balance FuelCore Nergize V1 Sneaker

Who they're best for: Anyone with wide feet or bunions
Why we love them: Testers reported that these shoes were comfortable right out of the box without a break-in period, so you can truly slip these sneakers on and head out the door ASAP. The meshy material and roomier fit of these sneakers are ideal for those with bunions because of the extra breathability. One tester with fairly flat feet shared that there was too much cushioning and too high of an arch, but they "flattened out a bit (in a good way)" after wearing them. Overall, these lightweight shoes are not restrictive and are one of our Lab pros' favorite walking shoes for women.
Tester notes: "Right when I put them on, they started molding to my feet," one tester shared. Another said, "Slip-on style [with] good cushioning, [I] could see it being a very good travel sneaker."

Who they're best for: Someone looking for a comfortable, breathable sneaker that's suitable for a business-casual outfit or commuting; those with flat feet and bunions can also benefit from this sneaker.
Why we love them: In the summer time, I love wearing sneakers to work because I can go on a stroll in Central Park during my lunch break. While supportive, comfortable sneakers typically don't match a business casual outfit for the office, these slip-on sneakers from Rothy's fit the bill. The cushioned footbed adds extra comfort and support that I don't get from other flats or similar-looking sneakers.
The flexible upper material is also breathable, which helps with bunions and sweaty feet while walking in the heat. Although the price of these shoes is on the higher end, they'll withstand years of wear — one tester has washed these shoes multiple times and still reaches for them every summer.

Who they're best for: Workers and commuters looking for an easy shoe to slip on that looks stylish for the office
Why we love them: When sneakers aren't dressy enough, these loafers can seamlessly transition between activities, from the office to a stroll in the park to happy hour drinks with friends. I am obsessed with all the color options for these shoes, including a bright cherry tomato red for a pop of color and a classic brown leather to add to a capsule wardrobe. The shoes are also less chunky than other loafers out there, so you can even throw them in a bag for traveling.
Tester notes: "I have owned four different loafers in my post-college years (including the Uptown Loafer from Vionic). My main gripe with loafers is I find them to be less comfortable than a pair of ballet flats or slip-on sneakers. This loafer, however, slips on easily and offers enough support that my feet don't hurt after wearing them to work or around the city. Why we love them: Our experts picked these clogs as one of their favorite shoes for nurses because of their durability and supportive design. The shoe's rocker heel takes pressure off the legs and back, which is ideal for those on their feet all day long. The roomy toe box is not only comfortable, but it's reinforced for some extra protection.
I think the clogs are a fun change of pace for those who wear sneakers every day. They're so cute and stylish that they look great with scrubs, casual outfits and work attire. Nurses, chefs and health professionals need supportive shoes that can easily be cleaned. At the end of the day, simply use a clean damp cloth to wipe the dirt off leather shoes and use soap and water for tougher stains, per the brand's care instructions.

Why we love them: While Crocs are great for around the pool, the holes can make your feet cold and wet on rainy days, but the Bodega Clogs from SeaVees will offer protection from the rain or mud. The striped webbing on back pull tab not only looks cute, but it makes it easier to slip these shoes on and off.
Online reviewers and a tester noted that these shoes are ideal for gardening, since you can simply kick them off to prevent tracking dirt into the house. The shoe's exterior is made of natural rubber and recycled natural rubber, so you can wipe them down to clean them.

I got them for gardening in the spring and summer but I have to say, I've been wearing them all the time this winter for school drop-off, walking the dog, and just in and around the house. Who they're best for: People looking for warm slippers to wear during cold temperatures
Why we love them: Not exactly a clog nor a flat, these slippers are built for the outdoors — and they're my personal, all-time favorite slip-on shoes. Equipped with treading on the outsole, a sheepskin, wool and Tencel interior and a suede upper, these UGG shoes are cozy, warm and comfortable. I wouldn't recommend walking long distances in these them, but they're perfect for a quick commute to work or walking the dog.
One tester, who has the very similar UGG Tazz Platform Slippers (which are currently low in stock or sold out on most retailers), says the shoes have a sturdy bottom and even hold up when there's a small amount of snow on the ground because the platform bottom adds some height. My UGG slippers look a bit rough after six years of wear, but the stains from rain and snow are barely noticeable. However, you can treat your UGG slippers with waterproofing spray and a cleaning kit.
