Things to keep in mind when shopping for slides

double line break

✔️ Material: Many slides use Ethyl Vinyl Acetate (EVA) or Polyurethane (PU) foam for extra cushioning. EVA typically has a soft, cushioning feel while PU offers a bouncier feel.

✔️ Sizing: Slides should fit similarly to open-toed heels and sandals, rather than boots or sneakers, meaning that your foot may cover the entire footbed without a gap at the front. If you're not sure whether you're wearing the right size, wiggle your toes and slide the shoes back and forth to make sure they stay on your feet without pinching or slipping. You can also walk around to get a feel as to whether the shoes are weighing you down or melding with your feet as you move.

✔️ Style: Slides come in a range of different styles, from casual sandals and more dressy platforms to post-workout recovery styles. Sandals and platforms are often intended for outdoor wear while slipper-like recovery slides are great for indoor wear but can be worn outdoors if they have good traction.

Is it bad to wear slides every day?

double line break

Slides aren't typically the best footwear option for athletic activities like running or traveling long distances on foot as wearing unsupportive shoes can lead to unnecessary strain on parts of your feet. To prevent this, look for slides with contoured footbeds that offer arch support and cushioning materials. It ultimately depends on where and when you wear them: Wearing slides at home as house slippers is very different from walking five miles in a pair of slide sandals.

What's the difference between slides and mules?

double line break

Mules and slides are often grouped together as they're both open-back, slip-on types of shoes, but while slides are open-toed, mules are not. Slides often have a more casual appearance compared to mules and include both those designed with recovery in mind and fashion-centric choices.
