As someone who's covered both parenting and toys at Good Housekeeping for more than six years, I can tell you that 3-month-old babies don't actually need toys. Toys may offer some developmental benefits at this age, but so would plenty of other things that are just lying around the house — and babies wouldn't know the difference between the two.

However, it's nice to have something on-hand to keep little ones entertained — and maybe give parents a moment where they can enjoy a sip of (possibly still hot) coffee. Luckily, we know a thing or two about toys. The Good Housekeeping Institute tests toys with kids of all ages, getting feedback from parents about how well they stood up to baby love. For anyone looking for gifts for kids this age, these rose to the top as the best toys for 3-month-old babies, favorited by both parents and experts alike.

VTech Bopping and Cruising Baby Driver

Bopping and Cruising Baby Driver

With the help of two AA batteries, the buttons on this dash activate lights and sounds that hold a baby's attention. In addition, there's a mirror to look in, pedals that crinkle, a gear to shift and a soft steering wheel to grab — and the whole thing attaches to the stroller for on-the-go fun. "My 3-month-old liked grasping for the toy," said one parent tester, who added that the baby also liked spinning the wheel. Ages 3 months+
