When we heard the LEGO Group was transforming a New York City brownstone into an interactive holiday wonderland, our RSVPs practically sent themselves. (A life-size snowman made entirely of LEGO® bricks? No way we were missing that.)

Hosted by interior designers Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent, who curated holiday gift guides of their favorite LEGO sets, the LEGO Holiday House perfectly illustrated how families and friends can come together to create their own traditions through LEGO building this holiday season. Each room displayed sets that would appeal to different ages, interests or passion points—including adventure, heroes, vehicles, space, hobbies, flowers and animals—allowing for truly personal expression through LEGO brick built creatons. The living space was adorned with LEGO brick-built ornaments and wreaths; the dining room featured seasonal sets—like the LEGO Icons Santa’s Post Office—and incredible one-of-a-kind builds made from Classic Brick Sets. Atop the dining room mantel sat a kinara and a menorah, with a LEGO fireplace as the showstopper beneath.

Nostalgia and new ideas alike flooded the office and the kids’ room, where our senior parenting and relationships editor, Marisa LaScala, spied a cool gift idea for her list. The LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Retro Roller Skate is one set from the brand’s line that comes with instructions for three different builds, encouraging imagination and creativity for the giftee whose ideas — and energy — are boundless. (The LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Retro Camera and the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Space Astronaut are two more.)
