Cher's one-of-a-kind voice and bold outfits are likely the first things that come to mind when you think of the singer-turned-actress. But what would those sequined red carpet looks be without her equally memorable hairstyles? As her career evolved from a teenage pop singer in the 1960s to an Academy Award-winning actress in the 1980s, so did her trend-setting hairdos.

Her hippie-chic straight hair from her days singing as a duo with her then-husband Sonny Bono eventually gave way to wild mullets, frosted pixie cuts and extravagant headpieces (typically paired with an equally extravagant Bob Mackie gown). Around the same time that she made her musical comeback at the turn of the millennium, she reinvented her look yet again with platinum blonde hair. Now in her 70s, the "I Got You Babe" singer shows no signs of slowing down or settling into any old routine, as she continues to switch up her hair on the regular, often with the help of elaborate wigs.

Here's a look at her iconic hair evolution over the years.

Even at 19, Cher (here with Sonny Bono) already had a signature look. Although long straight hair with a full bang was really popular in the '60s, she knew how to make it her own.
